I have just been on energyhelpline.com to compare prices, to find that npower would be £140 pa cheaper, based on the number of units used last year (less used this year so far). I then googled `npower review` and all the reviews were bad so I am staying with hassle-free ebico. I can`t be bothered with chasing hidden rates in every big co that I have been with. I like the fact that ebico is upfront

Mine came in a Southern envelope from Perth, same as the billing.

Anyway, a bit late in the day seen as the increase was a month ago.

The recently published Consumer Focus Knowledge Base says that the 65 working day period for suppliers to advise customers of price changes is to allow suppliers to send out the notification with bills.

I assume that because so many manage their accounts on line it is not easy to cater for all customers.

Remember that £140 cheaper includes an £108 annual lock-in. If nPower put their prices up before twelve months are up then you are stuck with the higher prices or you lose the £9 extra you have paid each month until that price change. Plus, of course, you have to pay that £9 extra in advance each month. Plus you are at the mercy of what they think you should pay Direct Debit wise. Plus you may pay even more with their monthly gas sculpting 'cause I'm not certain all comparison calculators take that in to account. Plus you don't have the freedom to pay quarterly.

Funnily enough, you would very probably save more money if you just transferred your leccy to another supplier, which clearly illustrates how ridiculous their leccy prices are. Even just on annual usage of the average 3300 kwhs per annum in the Yorkshire region would save you £123 with Scottish Power. Which represents an almost 40% saving. For switching to a supplier that IS profit making. Ethical ethos or not, that, to me, is wholly unacceptable...

The trouble is the poster currently lives in South Wales ;)

How much does it cost to move and how much will the commuting costs be?

(not to mention the untold cost of not being able to live around the beautiful people she currently does! :D)

LOL. Reason I was using Yorkshire is that's where I live and I (surprisingly, given my advanced years :o) can remember my postcode. Just put a Swansea code in uswitch and on 3300kwhs usage BG Click 6 is precisely £131.76 cheaper than Ebico. Again, approx 40% cheaper. These figures are hard to ignore, they really are.

Woooahhhh...no way am I trying kill Ebico  ...

Unfortunately all your other posts, both prior & post, betray this assertion!

Anyone can easily do a search and see the number of negative posts you have made regarding the company. You even went and purchased their annual accounts from companies house in an attempt to uncover some dirt.
Unfortunately for you, as you discovered, there are no fat cats being fed at ebico.

    Try again!

£131.76 on a current cost of £501.40 represents a saving of about 26%, not 40%!

nPower saving on this consumption would be just £78.10 not the £140 kittie referred to so your usage assumptions would still be entirely wrong.

The BG saving can only be achieved by managing the account online, accepting paperless billing and monthly DD payments, none of which are required for the ebico tariff.
If the customer doesn't wish to accept those terms, the discount with BG falls to about £28 per year (a little over 5%), based on your assumed consumption figure.

If you've ever had the unfortunate experience in having to speak or email with BG call centre in India, you'll realise that a 5% surcharge for the great customer service SSE provide to ebico using their Scottish call centre is well worth the small extra expense.
