Whats good for the goose, basically means if its ok for you to name change then its ok for others to do the same.
I genuinely cant remember why you changed and wasnt having a dig at you, just wanted to clarify that.0 -

Think of the fragile and depressed people that come to this site........
Those are the people I have found to be the bullies
Arrogance especially... how DARE a new poster jump onto the Benefits Board...
.. you only have to look at who thanks who, vicious Bullies who obviously get great satisfaction.
DMG seems to stalk me, she wrote a particularly nasty comment when I replied to a thread 6 weeks old (she informed me).
I expect she will follow me around the board now being nasty and spiteful where possible, I saw her style before...:cool:0 -

Meaning no disrespect to you, Dippychick, but this type of post does only encourage reply in kind, and then more reply in kind, and that's how it all escalates...:oBe careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -

I appreciate that however, it is so blatantly obvious who the bullies are and why.
Other forums have RULES and any bullying and misconduct is taken to hand - they do not get away with it.
I am frankly shocked at how personal people get for no reason whatsoever. It makes me wonder whether these bullies do exist in society with their seeming lack of interpersonal skills, or whether they are sat at their computers with their mighty attitudes.
It is easy to bully behind a screen.:cool:0 -
That's the year I joined!
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
The place really WAS great when I first joined and continued for a while, but towards the end of 2005 backbiting and righteous indignation prevailed..................and can probably be pinpointed to one particular person and his thousands of AE's :rolleyes: Since then this place has had highs and lows but nowhere near as many fantastic highs and playfulness as the first couple of years it started. Back then it had more of a 'family' feel, now it is a huge site with thousands of regular posters all with different characters with their own opinions.
And thank goodness for that as that's the success behind the site, lots of information and opinions on problems that you just couldn't get anywhere else. Where else would you get thousands of strangers trying to help other strangers for absolutely no gain (without a natural disaster in sight)???
There will always be difference of opinion in life and on the net. If there's someone you're not getting on with - there's the ignore button and if you feel victimised by a clique - there's the abuse button, and you can always steer clear of contentious boards or threads.Honorary Northern Bird bestowed by AnselmI'm a Board Guide and volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly on Special Occasions, Green/Ethical, Motoring/Overseas/UK Travel & Flood boards, it's not part of my role to deal with reportable posts. It is your prerogative to leave and/or have time away, but don't do it because you've had a difference of opinion with a few people. People have gotten very personal with me (especially in one particular thread. I think you know which) but I'm not going to let some faceless person behind a screen make me feel bad.
I think it's accepted that with any large group, there will always be a difference of opinon. Some subjects are so controversial that people can't help but get caught up, but their feelings (and also how they conduct themselves) in one particular thread may not be indicative of how they really are, IFSWIM.0 -
hear hear.... they may argue the subject with me, just because they dont agree with me opinion.......but they will never take away my freedom........ of speech.....smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to....

I truly dislike this sort of thread and I have seen a fair few in the years I have been a member of MSE.
If you don't want to read, be a part of the forums then don't. I think it is rather arrogant to:
a) Assume that anyone will notice you don't post any more.
b) Feel that it is necessary to give reasons to a whole section of anonymous people on an internet forum.
I am sure this post will be classed as one of the nasty ones. So be it, it is my opinion. I have not been rude or aggressive.0 -
I agree with you Krisskross. Very arrogant to assume anyone here cares whether you stay or go.
As for the site changing, I have been here since 2005 (can't believe it is that long) and there is far to much cyber love for my liking. Lots of 'huns' and hugs. A bit weird, in my opinion, for complete strangers to be hugging and hunning all over the place. There is someone on here I am very close to, but I still manage to get through a day with 'hunning' them on the Internet. PLus, I finding that if you express a difference of opinion you get accused of bullying - and I am very careful what I post.
I appreciate some may be 'fragile' but perhaps they shouldn't be posting on an Internet forum? I certainly wouldn't.0 -
But I thought the OP said that s/he knew that no one would care, s/he did not "assume" anyone would miss her? And it comes accross as genuine reasons for the post? Concerned about new people being scared off? Maybe I got it wrong?0
