Sorry mrstine, myself and sister in law sat her and don't really understand the question/answer. sorry can you please explain

    HiRaq
Think what MrsT means is that her hormone levels might not be sufficiently strong just yet to detect on a pregnancy test that is not very sensitive (they double every 2 days in pregnancy) - correct me if I'm wrong mrs T!
At 8 days late I would think that most pregnancy tests even the cheapo ones would pick up the pregnancy hormone so if I were her I would wait a few more days and then test again and failing that make an appointment with GP as there are reasons other than pregnancy to miss a period.

    Good luck x

I think what MrsTine means, is that different people have different hormone levels and that it can take longer for some to get positive (if she is pregnant) on the standard tests. That is why she is suggesting getting a clearblue one, which is supposed to be very accurate and sensitive - if it won't give the positive, it might give more reassurance that the negative result is correct.

Edit: Seems there are a few of us trying to explain at the same time!!!! Now it must be really clear!

thanks for the great posts, understand loud and clear. Run through this over the phone with her this morning. She is still a bit weppy and still the same feelings over the last couple of days. At least got a doctors appointment for tomorrow.

I agree with you galvanizersbaby with the cheapo tests. I have said to buy the clear blue test but feels that 2 tests how ever much they where stays " negative ".

Am just the huge shoulder for her at the moment.

  • There is tons of research that says that (as with so many things these days) the cheap tests are just as good as the more expensive ones anyway - quite often they are made by the same company.

Each test should say on it how sensitive it is.

Could it be that she has just missed a period for whatever reason (stress or illness). These things do happen.

However, there are also stories of women who test negative for weeks when they actually are pregnant.

Best to see the doc - good luck to her for tomorrow.

could be the change or could jut be normal. The average woman misses one period a year apparently
If my typing is pants or I seem partcuarly blunt, please excuse me, it physically hurts to type. :wall: If I seem a bit random and don't make a lot of sense, it may have something to do with the voice recognition software that I'm using!

it was just something that I read that is all. I think it may have referred to missing a period unexpectedly or effectively missing a period over a year by the odd cycle being a few days out of whack. Just summit I read, can't remember which medical thingy it was now though
