Not to get your hopes us but with each of my pregnancies I have tested a day or so before I was due upto a week after and each one said negative when in actual fact I was pregnant.
Don't get too downhearted and remember to try and enjoy yourself. It's very easy to get obsessed by the whole thing which I think just adds to the pressue you pile on yourself.

Thanks for that. To be honest, we do enjoy ourselves. Having a baby would be a very welcome byproduct. We don't really need to now when I'm ovulating as we try very regularly (not to boast, but at least twice everyday). Thanks for the hopeful thoughts. I hope I get there in the end.

You *could* be doing it too often. Some research suggests if you 'over do it', your man may produce a fewer sperm of a poorer quality...

That would be a shame as we do it because we enjoy it. I figure that's the way it should be. I want to be able to do it when we want.:(

Basically I've had 2 very very light periods and wondered if I should take a pragnancy test. I am usually extremely heavy. But I don't know how effective they are, I've heard that hormones can affect the result and as technically I have been bleeding, although very very lightly it would say whether I am or not. Please help as this is unusual for me.
  • Chipper,

Make an appointment with your GP.

I've had a similar situation to you, flow went from 17 years of being very very heavy to practically non-existant. I've taken preggy tests etc (all -ve)but what has put my mind at ease was my GP took blood tests and check my hormone levels and they came back normal. Your GP should also be able to get a preggy test done.

Go see your GP and have a huge hug because I know how distressing it is when your cycle seems to change for no reason.

Most pregnancy tests are 98-99% effective - if I were you I'd just pop to Tesco's and get one to put my mind at rest.
Do you have any other pregnancy symptoms?

    About 98% effective I believe.

I experienced the same thing with my last period. I know I'm not pregnant and have put it down to the increased exercise I am doing, since I know periods can stop when there is a dramatic increase in daily exertion. I've gone from zero for years to daily over the past 2 months. So I replied in case this could be the same for you?

    Hi peeps, thankyou for repyling
No I haven't had any other symptoms but I am also on the pill. I have had no more regular exercise than usual. The main reason is I am supposed to start my pill again tomorrow also I am a smoker and the thought of being pregnant and not taking care of myself is frightening. The thing is, can you have 2 very light periods but still be pregnant?

It is possible to have two light periods and still be pregnant but if your on the pill isn't it more likely that you've just had some breakthrough bleeding of some sort?
Unless you have been late with a pill and have a particular reason to think you are pregnant - I don't see the problem with just taking a test if your in any doubt x

There are a lot of reasons y I couldn't be but something isn't right. When I talk to my fella he just says I'm not n makes me feel daft for suggesting it. I just needed a bit of help. I think it would be a good idea if I do one just to be sure though. Just checking I wasn't going mad or it was a waste of time buying one
