    Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to get pregnant and have been off the pill since January. Every month I get my hopes up and suspect I might be pregnant and do a test and it's costing me about £4-5 a pop. Does anyone know anywhere that does them a bit cheaper than boots, asda etc...

I cant help you with the tests but have you thought about charting? You take your temperature every morning before you get out of bed or talk or do anything , take it either orally or internally and write it down on one the charts that you can download from the internet. You will notice that your temp is lower before ovulation and rises after ovulation. Normally 18 high temps after ovulation means that you are pregnant. Good luck.

There is a book called taking charge of your fertility which is by toni weschler it is very good even if you are not trying to get pregnant. I found out so much, like not everybody ovulates on day 14 some women ovulate on day 9 and others on day 22. A longer cycle normally means that you ovulate later. Stress plays a part not when we are due AF but when we ovulate, it can delay ovulation making our cycles longer. Hope this helps you.

My chemist, I think its a co-op one lol, do them for a couple of quid. People tend to steer clear of the cheaper ones thinking they won't work as well, but my sister-in-law found out she was pregnant using the cheap ones, twice, so I think the cheap ones are as good as the £10+ ones :)

Two cheap ones (the ones I mentioned at the beginning - don't know if I can openly mention the eBay shop I got them from, but if I can I will!) showed two feint but definitely there lines, then a Clearblue digital confirmed it. Shame they're not cheaper cos they're very snazzy!

Thanks everyone. I've bought 5 for £1.90 from an ebay shop. I hope they're not too dodgy.

    Hello

Think you should try the TTC board - you'll get plenty of support there - I would recommend www.accessdiagnostics.co.uk for cheap ovulation and pregnancy tests - you can buy in bulk so much more cost efficient.

    Good luck x

I'm just coming to the end of a year as student welfare officer, and I've used Access Diagnostics for our pregnancy tests - the company are really good, competitively priced and delivery is very prompt.

I got mine from the pound shop - pack of 2!
Wait until your period is a couple of days late, tempting as it is to test straightaway. Then you will avoid unnecessary tests.

Thanks. I'll have to check out the pound shops. My period is approx 13 days late but it's hard to tell as pre-pill my periods we all over the place as I have PCOS. Since coming off the pill 6 months ago they have been regular which is what I'm basing this 'late' on.

Not wishing to turn this thread into TTC thread but I can confirm about late ovulation. I used OPK (Ovulation Predictor Kit) for one month to see when I was actually OV and it was around day 20 of a normal 28-31 day cycle. So we'd initially been "aiming" :rotfl: for around day 14 we were in fact missing the best time by nearly a week! If you want to try OPK's access diagnostics do sell them and they are much cheaper than Clearblue.
Not to get your hopes us but with each of my pregnancies I have tested a day or so before I was due upto a week after and each one said negative when in actual fact I was pregnant.
