Pregnancy Testing

Options
Sorry to ask again, saw this mentioned a while ago and have searched but can't find the thread, and didn't really read it properly last time.

Are cheap pregnancy tests as effective as expensive ones? I want to be absolutely sure!

Any wise words or help from more experienced people than me would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you.

yes they are. they all measure hcg which is the pregnancy hormone. the only difference is the level of hormone they will measure. you can get extrememly sensitive tests from access diagnostics.

i used adsa's own brand with both my pregnancy's and they work very well. the more expensive the sooner you can test i think.
    hope this helps

I think so. I used the more expensive Clearblue test as well as Boots own and Asda own (2 pack at less than £4) each gave a very clear result :) I tested quite early and got clear results.
    The £2.00 Coin Savers Club = approx £22.00  :j.. The 20p Savers Club = £17.80.

Cheapy ones definately work. I got mine from Home bargains, cost 89p each and they tested positive for my last two pregnancies. ;)

Yes, I have always used pound-shop tests. I think the fancier ones are just easier to use, eg the last one I had from a pound shop had a little vessel to wee in and a strip of paper that you had to balance in it, making sure it was the right way up. Yes a bit more tricky than a £12.99 all in one sturdy digital readout thingy but hardly rocket science and it saved me over a tenner.

I used a Wilkinsons one with my first - the line wasn't as definite as the more expensive brands (it was a bit pale), but it still worked just as well. Even a faint line is a positive though I think (don't quote me on that though)!
