Cerazette -POP
My Dr wasn't particularly sure... She kinda said "It MIGHT stop you ovulating...or your womb lining from developing as much, maybe... But it definately mucuses up your cervix, lowering the chances of sperm getting through..."
My boyfriend thinks it just mucusses everything up.. So I'm not 100% sure. I think the point was that the Dr was making, is that it varies with different people. Like I didn't get on with Loestrin (made me really depressed) but Cerazette is okay for me, whereas other people find Cerazette makes them really moody and depressive and Loestrin is better...
Sooooooo, I guess the main point is the mucus, but some people stop ovulating altogether, some ovulate occasionally, some don't stop?0 -
POP= Progesterone Only Pill
I wasn't just randomly shouting "POP!" :P

Oh err! - I take Cerazette - my doc gave me the impression that it would stop ovulation being a progestrone only pill - might do a bit of research on the net in to this one then!
Re the preg tests I think the 25ul ones (most sensitive ones) can detect the pg hormone a few days before your period is due - if I were you if you think you may have been ovulating around 10th May (let's say you were) I would do a test now as your period would be due around now - good luck0 -
Well according to info on the net, contraception pills shouldn't really have different physical effects on different people, ie everyone taking a particular one should stop ovulating if thats what it's supposed to do. Your doctor sounds pretty simple to not know the effect it should be having!!
From what I have found, Cerazette should cause the following:
"1. The main action of Cerazette is to stop ovulation. Your ovaries don't release an egg (ovum) each month. If there is no egg for the sperm to fertilise then you can't get pregnant.
2. The mucus at your cervix (between your uterus and vagina) becomes thicker making it harder for sperm to enter the uterus.
3. The lining of your uterus becomes thinner making it less likely that a fertilised egg will be able to implant into the lining."
It also says:
"If you took all your pills correctly and you didn't have an upset stomach or take any other medicines which might affect the POP then it is unlikely you are pregnant"
"It shouldn't be taken if you think you may be pregnant"
"You may not have regular periods while you are taking the POP. Your periods may stop altogether or be irregular, light, or more frequent. You may also worry that you are pregnant. If you are in any doubt about being pregnant, see your doctor or nurse."
"Women who do get pregnant while using a progesterone-only contraceptive may have a greater risk of the pregnancy occuring outside the womb, so need to see a doctor soon after you think you may be pregnant"
So I guess the sensible thing to do would be to see the doctor about your concerns, mind you yours doesn't sound too good so maybe ask to see the practice's nurse instead? Considering the advice is not to take it if you think you're pregnant and that it can cause an ectopic pregnancy, I'd see someone asap. At least that will put your mind at ease x0 -
Uh, actually I take my pill perfectly..
No, I did one test which was like 2 days after my BF had that feeling. And thus I need to do one for THAT occasion.
I'm putting both our minds at ease. And as I've said I honestly don't believe I am pregnant, how does that add up to wanting the test to be positive?
I really wasn't being nasty........but I just found your original question very odd. Maybe its just me ....but absolutely nothing you said in your original post would add up to you being pregnant.
Why would anyone bother with a pregnancy test based ONLY on a feeling from their partner?
If YOU had said YOU had a feeling you were pregnant I would have understood. Sometimes us women just feel different even before we actually know we are pregnant.
A few of the things you said made me feel deep down you'd not be TOO unhappy if you were pregnant. Avoiding alcohol, asking is taking any more pill dangerous if you are pregnant and even considering if you can cope financially with a baby etc. All that based on a "feeling" from your BF? I think not.How does a brown cow give white milk, when it only eats green grass?0 -
If you think you might be pregnant, then I suppose it is a good idea to stop taking the pill, but if you're not, not sure how you go about starting up again. Do you have to wait for a period?
I was on Cerazette and it stopped my periods completely which was great.:D
I pretty much got pregnant straight after stopping taking it though, i.e. I waited one month and got up the duff, so it didn't take long for it to be out of my system.
I think the odds of you being pregnant are quite low if you took the pill correctly. How do you feel? Do you "feel" pregnant? I did before I found out, but I thought it was my over active imagination (until it turned out I was). Almost immediately I had a metallic taste in my mouth and sore boobs. This was about a week/2 weeks after conception. But it took longer for the tests to actually show positive. More like three weeks which you are almost up to.Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

To me it sounds more like your boyfriends feeling is a 'I'm ready to have a baby feeling' however some people are really good at sensing when someone is ovulating or having their period because they smell slightly different, so therectically he could have sensed something - but unlikely he'd have pinpointed what it was
If you did conceive around the 10th then a test should be accurate by now - however if you were regular with your pills (even 3 hours late with a POP can cause it to fail) it is unlikely that you have conceived0 -
My POP is 12 hours, but thanks. That's quite a good idea of what it might've been, it hadn't occurred to me..
Yeah, that's all in the info leaflet I believe. My Dr just seemed to make it seem very different to the combined pills I was on before... I dunno.
Anyway, that's what I mean, I don't feel pregnant. Then I have these moments I doubt it..so I want to make sure.0 -
