Well my husband just tried to cancel in the hope of getting Sky+ and was offered absolutely nothing - they resolutely refused to offer him any kind of offer or discount and said they would put his cancellation request through.... So it could be that the quota for offers is up for today or it depends on who you get on the phone... Either way at least we tried.

Terf, seems you were unlucky. I just arranged Sky+ installation for Monday.

Folks, there is one thing to consider here - you do enter a new 12 month contract for the "recording facility". It won't cost ant extra money if you are currently on any package at all, but if you cancel within the 12 months you will owe £10 a month on the remaining term.

Hey terf, don't give up hope because they may still try to get you to stay as a customer. If not, give them a call in 29 days to cancel the cancellation, if you don't want to cancel, IYSWIM! I just read this thread and got on my soapbox at work. One of the ladies here has normal sky and its been playing up so they are coming on Sunday to install sky+ and broadband and phone for a bargain price of £209!!!! I mentioned this thread and now she is pretty angry and going to give them both barrels tonight!

Another lady here who has normal sky thought she had nothing to lose by trying and within 15 minutes is having her sky+ installed next week for absolutely nothing!

I really do feel that sky have the market pretty much cornered so it is nice to get something back for a change!

Thanks to OP and all others that have posted!:T

    OMG, I'm shaking...

Phoned them up and said I'm out a lot in the evenings and missing things, wife and I arguing about what to watch, and DD wanting to watch kids stuff.

They initially offered at £49, then I said I'd need to ask the OH, she then came back and offered for free - being installed Sunday AM.

Thanks all for giving me the courage to try.

    wow excellent post

i just rung up and ask to cancel (because i dont get to watch anything as im at work all day ;))

the very helpful chap at cancellations offered me it for £49, i said, i wanted to cancel not pay extra (as a joke with him), he said go on, we'll give it you free :D, you been loyal with us for many years etc...

after that i asked about multiroom, he said we'll add that on free too for the £10 extra per month

no extra charges, you get sky+ and sky multiroom for free

all it costs is £10 per month for the multiroom package

    scored!!!

i wanted multiroom for a while... now to get sky+ and multiroom for free is a bargain

    thanks op :)

I'm really delighted for the people getting this offer from sky, to those who have tried and havent received it yet KEEP TRYING!

As I said I've tried and failed loads of times, even cancelling in February and rejoining 3 weeks later.

I'm very excited about the sky+, I'm going through the tv guide choosing what I want to see when I'm at work now

A key tip I think is to be absolutely sure what you're going to say. I was really straight forward, there was no question about me not cancelling. I said I was cancelling because I would either use the 9 year old box I currently have for freesat or I'd go to Virgin, who had offered me the V+ box. Make sure it's available in your area though.

I was not happy, but not rude, and told the guy in cancellations he was the nicest person I'd ever spoken to at Sky and I was grateful for his help, but I wanted to cancel. The 9 year old box, with no offer of a new one (ever) meant I was looking elsewhere and had already lined up my options.

It helped the guy I spoke to was nice, but I'd '!!!!!footed' around the issue when I called last year. This time I was just very straight forward and had my plan in my head!

    Thanks to the OP.

Just called them, told them we work shifts and not able to get my money's worth. Straight away on his first sentence, offered me Sky+ for free, told me about all the benefits of it (which i already knew) and would I be interested. Told him to sign me up.

Asked him about my set-top box that i have now and he told me to use it as a freeview box. I mentioned that the signal was rubbish upstairs as it is an indoor ariel, and he suggested talking to the engineer when he comes out to see what he can do.... engineer coming out next Tuesday to have it fitted.

Keep trying the ones who did not get it offered. Thanks again to the OP.
