I'm waiting for my engineer to call on Friday - I was on the £17 a month rate but had to accept moving up a package to £27 a month...but for this they are giving me a £10 cradit on my account so it will still cost me the same, I'll get more channels (and will cancel the extra in a month's time) and also have Sky+ free:D

instead of offering to cancel and trying to blag a free sky+ does anyone have any other ideas how to get free sky+. Do you think I should play it safe and just see if i can get it for £49 rather than £99 or just complain about the poor service or something else? Any ideas anyone?

Wonder if anyone could help me??

I tried this a few months back and was offered nothing. It went to cancellation dept and i got cut off.

Keep waiting for offers through the post but nope.

I have tried ringing and asking to be connected to sky again and have they got any deals for new customers etc, but all i get is blah de blah blah!!!Grrr.

What can i say to get me free sky+.

I was with them for 8 yrs previously and despite reminding them of this they still want m eto part with £49.

  • I dont know if this will help anyone but a few weeks ago, i had a guy knock at my door offering free sky+ to new customers, i explained my husband already had an account and he basically said for him to cancel and sign up again in my name. It slipped my mind to be honest as my hubby was working away and i never thought anything of it untill today when hubs mentioned he fancied sky+....

So today, when we called (as ive already mentioned in this thread) we were offered it for £99...having done a search on mse and found this thread we called the cancellation department and told them we wanted to cancel so we could resign in my name to recieve the free sky+, obviously it did'nt come to that as a really nice chap at sky said "no-one in thier right mind would pay £99 if they could have it for free"...and voila :T

So maybe its worth giving that a shot, sky are always hanging around in morrisons and the like, so maybe its worth telling them you've seen an offer and see if they can match it?

sorry this turned out to be longer than id planned.:o

How about saying, you dont want to cancel but have no choice as you now work night shift, work all night and sleep all day...your not really getting your monies worth as you can only enjoy it on your day off and the chances are you've already missed the shows you enjoy the most?

My only advice to people is keep calm, talk to them nicely and keep asking what else they can do for you, it works believe me! I phoned yesterday afternoon and explained that my husband had kindly spent our wedding money on an all singing all dancing freeview 42" tv so no longer required sky as most of the channels were on this new tv and wanted to cancel our contract. The advisor went on to say as loyal sky customers for six years lets see what we can do for you, at this time i started to rub my hands together .........

We were paying £38 a month for sky, £13 a month Orange Broadband and approx £19 a month for BT phonebill (Including line rental), we don't tend to use the phone much as we have good contract mobiles. Total approx £70 a month.

First off they tried to offer me sky+ box for £49 plus free installation plus the extra £10 a month for multiroom (as i said i had phoned them up previously and asked how much it would be), plus broadband for £27 a month (higher price as broadband wasn't in my area yet) but i managed to persuade them to reduce this price as it wasn't worth me transferring over my broadband with them and would wait until it was in my area, so they reduced their quote by £7 and also the phone package for £5 a month.

So all in all this is what i managed to wangle out of them.....

    FREE SKY+ BOX
    FREE INSTALLATION
    MULTIROOM (extra £10 a month)
    SKY TALK (£5 a month)
SKY BROADBAND (£20 a month, which inculdes line rental)
    FREE CONNECTION CHARGE (£30 waived)

All these for an extra £3 a month a total of £73 a month and all under one roof, as such! Ohh and they are coming on Sunday to install it all!

Give it a go it's well worth it - Good Luck!

Thanks for an excellent thread :j
  • Ooh, not bad! Do they knock off the £10 a month if you don't have premium channels with this? x

    sky HATES me.

Just rung again and asked to come back to sky, what package could i have etc, i then mentioned that someone came to the door offereing a free sky plus ( he did) but the said it`d have to buy one and have it installed, !!!!!!!!.

I cant believe i have tried 3 times to come back to them and 3 times they have let me go.

Maybe i should join back for now and cancel in a few weeks, see if that works??

    Really ticked off with them.

Just done this for our connection..

Phoned up and, very politely, asked for my sky to be disconnected for the 3rd Of July. Women on phone asked me why and I told her I was moving to Virgin who were giving me the V+ Box free of charge along with the same package as Sky (which is true, they are).

After some to-ing and fro-ing I've got SKy+ box free, free installation.

Nice! thanks to OP for this one!
