    Many thanks for this !!!
Just rang em, told them I wanted to cancel cos footy season is over and I would only watch freeview channels, same thing, Lowered my subscription from £38 to £18 (i did remove the sports package aswell tho)
Offerd me sky+ for £49, told em I would only stay for a free box and the £18 deal, they put me on hold and come back with the good news,
Its a new 12 month contract but I wasnt planning on leaving anyway
Happy days, Sky+ here we come

I just got my Sky+ ordered for FREE too ..I called 01506 421 702 and told the agent I wanted to cancel cos I didn't have Sky+ and was missing stuff. Was put through to the cancellations team. (I'd been plucking up the courage to do this for ages!)

The Agent said the best they could do was a discount bringing it to £49 (inc. install). I said that unless they had some way of removing this cost then I still wanted to cancel. They then asked to put me on hold and finally came back saying someone had wiped the £49 off as a good will gesture. Clearly, I had to contain myself. Cool or what!!!?

As I used a geographic number the call only cost me 5p (using www.18185.co.uk). Only downside was the call itself took about 30 mins... Basically there was a lot of listening to how their great products are and why £49 is a great 'one off' price etc... Obviously try to remain unimpressed and have your 'life without sky broadband/tv/talk' all mapped out....

Thanks charlie37 for the opening post and all the others who have posted info.

Outstanding - Phoned tonight using the number above. Put through to cancellations and told them that we were too busy and never had time to watch. Immediatelly offered my sky+ for free saving £149 + £60 installation. I queried whether it was a new or re conditioned box and they said brand new with 12 month warranty. They are coming on Monday afternoon to fit.
Time taken from start - 10mins.
    Thanks again.

    Hiya all,

Just a quick question, were you all out of your 12 month contract when you phoned to cancel??

I have 2 months left in mine but I don't know whether to give this a try.

Yeah I was, I'd try anyway if I was you. Phone and ask when your contract is due to end, and tell them you want to give them advanced notice because your work has changed and you dont want to continue with a product your not getting the benefit of

    It's worth a shot anyway!
