    Hello,

Back from my friends and had a lovely time, she did gammon in mustard and honey dressing, from a WW book. It was very nice, but had the zest of a whole orange with it, and we both thought it was too much orange, and would be better with less next time. We also had polenta, which i had never had before, and it wasnt nice!!!! It had sage in with it, which isnt a herb i like, and we both found it pretty tasteless, so would need a better recipe next time.
DS is now watching the football, and DD is reading her magazine in the kitchen, having just made DS and me a lovely cup of tea!!!! I love my children!!!!!
Right, off for a browse, have a great evening,
    Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
  • Evening all, just wanted to say I had a great OS day today. Made a banana and walnut cake, made a corned beef and potato pie. Both turned out lovely. Went shopping and bought soapflakes and soda crystals. The lady at the till was looking at the soap flakes strangely, probably wondering why I was buying them when I could be buying persil tablets. Orignally bought them as I heard they are good for wood floors, but tried them in the washing machine today, clothes look pretty clean, but machine started playing up for a bit, not sure if it was because of these soap flakes. Did dissolve them in hot water first, but seems to take forever.

Hope everyone else had a great day.

    Evening all :)

Haven't posted for a couple of days I think.

DD was back at playgroup yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed herself. In the afternoon we (DD, my friend and her 2 kids) went foraging .... we came back with a pretty good haul .... sloes / crab apples / blackberries, also found some damsons and wild plums but they weren't ripe yet. My friend was most chuffed at the thought of making sloe gin ;) It was a very pleasant way to spend the afternoon, we all had fun, and of course it cost nowt.

Last night, I started to strip some wallpaper from the kitchen wall ... DH then took a large scraper to it, and we're back to plaster in places and concrete in others, I think it's going to be another of "those" jobs :(

Today was spent mooching, I can only describe it as that :) We emptied the dining room and scrubbed part of the floor, DD mopped the rest of it (as she's not yet 3, DH announced that it was child labour ... but I didn't see him rushing in to stop her, LOL) She had a whale of a time, even if there was a lot of water sploshing about :) Started to make some crab apple jelly, but kinda got it all wrong, so that went in the bin :( Apart from that, painted the shelves in the kitchen with their first pass.

Oh and stubbed my toe on DD's trampoline .... blood everywhere :( I shall be glad when we've finished decorating her room and can move her and her trampoline in there where there is enough room to swing a cat, iyswim! (Or at least walk out of the room w/o falling over a trampoline!

W**k tomorrow .... and of course it's 5p eBay listing day, so a few more bits 'n' bobs to list I think. Apparently I have the hire of a digger to pay for

Just got in from the gym  I only planned to do 30-45 mins, but got engrossed in watching "how clean is your house?" followed by "you are what you eat" so I did over an hour :A
Came home to 3 lovely brand new looking pairs of black trousers (no bleach stains in sight) & a grubby looking washing machine! I think the instructions say to run a wash empty to get rid of any remaining dye.
Off to eat my strawberries - I must have hit Sainsbury's at the right time this afternoon, cos I got some great whoopsies! Strawbs, ready prepared veg (bad girl!), mushroom pate & chocolate.

Glad all the bin lids had good days back at school, it's not long til half term ;)

    Hello everyone,

just a quick post tonight as I've not much to say - one of those days where looking back you know you were busy all the time but can't remember what you've been doing for most of it! It was very busy though, so I was glad to get home. It also helped that I cooked tonights tea yesterday and put it in the fridge (in one of my organised moods for a change) so it only needed heated up when we got home. Was very bad and had an icecream soda with it though, but it was lovely! Haven't made them in years :o

Glad to hear that everyones kids at school seemed to have a good day - nice way to start the term :)

Hugs to everyone - sorry I can't mention everyone by name but I wasn't expecting the thread to be 8 pages long - it had been getting a *little* shorter these last few days! Nice to read though :D

    Evening everyone :hello:

Well, what a busy day you've all had! I'm afraid that I haven't really read the whole thread......... but I love Philip Schofield :D.

My new class are ok at the moment.... only the first day though . I'm teaching Year 5 and they're definitely not as hormonal as my old Year 6s - yet! :D Some of my class from last year turned up after school on their way back from "big school". It was lovely to see them again - brand new squeaky clean shoes, brand new sweatshirt with the black fluff coming off on their brand new t-shirts!

jockett - glad that your DD had a good first day at her new school!

I think I may have to do alot of batch cooking this weekend for the freezer. I'm getting back from work quite late at the moment and cooking from scratch, so a couple of batches of soup, bolognese sauce and chilli will be necessary!

Must go for now. I'm scratching around for inspiration about what to teach the little cherubs next week. I've got some children that are as bright as buttons that need alot of pushing forward and some children who need loads of support. Of course, there are all the children in the middle who need supporting to achieve their potential........... all to be taught at the same time by me

    Evening all

Had a day off work today but done no cleaning whatsoever. Instead went to local farm/butchers and spent £52 on mince, sausage, chicken and liver, should do 26 meals for 4 of us.

On the way home went along the lanes and picked 5lbs of elderberries which are now stewing for wine.

Really tired today so off tgo bed now,

Nice to see Math back, liked your posts while I was a 'lurker'. Hope Queenie comes back soon

We must not, in trying to think about how we can make a big difference, ignore the small daily differences we can make which, over time, add up to big differences that we often cannot foresee.

I'm off to bed bright and early tonight, I have to be up to get DS off to school in the morning, then DD and then I have to move 12 boxes back from DD1's ex-boyfriends house. One of those boxes contains all my cookery book collection so I am looking forward to getting that back. I haven't got the foggiest idea what I am doing with the rest but as I haven't had these boxes for a year I can't need them that much.

The rest of the day? I am playing it by ear.

Is this the sort of excitement that normally occurs in suburbia when the 9-5 army is away....??

Yep!! Don't worry Snowy, you'll get used to such wonderful highlights to your day, in time!!!:rotfl: :rotfl:

Well having used up my entire allocation of time trawling through 8 PAGES of posts, I'm losing the will to live, let alone post. I can't remember who said/did what, my brain is thoroughly addled!! Who was that I heard say doesn't take much!!!!

Glad to hear the young ones seem to have enjoyed their returns to school.
Glad to hear a slightly older one has enjoyed her return to "school" too, Kaz!!:D

Well got to go now, DH is wanting to watch some stuff we recorded. Bye bye!
