Morning guys!
Just spent 25 mins reading yesterdays thread! At this rate I'll never have time to look at any other MSE threads!
Anyway, born 1972 (34 in Nov) and now feel old as most of you seem to be born on or around when I started school and became a Duranee!
I've got so much to do I don't know where to start. House is fairly tidy but needs a good clean - tempted not to bother until new Flylady challenge from Moggins!!
DS starts pre-school tomorrow so I need to ensure everything is ready for him which involves a trip to town which I always dread. Also got 20 odd birthday thank yous to write and delivery for DS.
Still got tons of plums I need to do something with and am scared to attempt jam again! Also need to make lasagne for tea and carrot soup for lunch. FIL dropped off his BM for me yesterday so also need to take a look at that.
Ronankfan - went to a birthday party yesterday where the mum made a pirate ship cake. She used choc fingers to look like the wood of the ship and it looked and tasted great!
tinkerbelluk - sorry you're feeling down. If you have the time, I always find a brisk walk lifts my spirits. I did this a lot after DS was born, helped me to lose weight! SnowOwl - walking might also be helpful to you.
thriftlady - good luck to your kids starting school today
Penny - damson jam recipee (for idiots) needed here in Berkshire!
Have a good day everyone. Punky xPunky x0 -
Hey FrugalJo - just proved that a walk really helps when the day isn't going so great! Think I might just abandon ship and take DS out on his bike...Punky x0

Hello everyone,
Woke up this morning to find DS hadn't come home last night, got into a flap and then thought "He's a 20 year old man now, he's 6'6" tall and I know where he went last night (to a mates)"My brother was married at the same age but DS is still my baby. I think it must be because he and DD never went through that rebellious phase, they always let me know where they were going and when they would be back.
Good luck to all those starting school, or even changing years because that can sometimes be as daunting.0 -

Morning all
I'm a 1972 one as well to follow on from yesterday, but Punky a Duranee??? No no no Wham was the band to follow! "wake me up before you go go...." Dumpy dances round office....
I got home from work last, last night but still ended up with the washing up, hum, not sure I'm happy with that but the HM lasagne from the freezer was lovely.
Finished ringing everyone for the OU so I can claim some money from them which will be helpful.
Fairly bad meeting witht the boss, not sure how viable my job will be in the long term, so I'm worried about the mortgage, bills etc.
I'm being inspried to make my Christmas cake by you all on here, so I'll have a look at St Delia tonight and see what ingredients I need to get in.
Bread machine needs to go on again tonight as HM rolls disappear like snow in summer at home.
Hugs to all who need them.0 -
It's a big day for lots of mini OS's & their parents today so :grouphug: By the end of the week they'll all be taking it completely in their stride I'm sure.
Snowy the advice about exercise is excellent. I don't know what your weather is like over there at the moment - we're lucky enough to be going through a lovely sunny warm spell - but I would get out there in the fresh air have a lovely walk & enjoy the last of the summer. I'm sure it'll make you feel much better & as someone else said (sorry can't remember who & if you read yesterday's thread you'll know I'm entitled to have senior moments) it's the best way there is to help you to sleep more normally. I've been out on my bike already this morning & done 9 miles. I always come back feeling much more cheerful & positive & bursting with energy.
I'm off to work in a bit, I'm going in late today because I have a meeting in a different office starting @ 11 so I'm just going straight there. I've been promised a call by a counselling service who will give me details of some contacts I can pass on to DS. I'm not convinced he's gone for any help yet even though he tells me he has. I'm hoping that the more information & choice I can give him, the more likely he'll be to take one of them up. I keep reminding myself he's a grown man & I can only do what I can do, he has to do this for himself.
Have a good Wednesday everyone.

Morning!
All is calm here - DS at school (and he wanted to go :j ) DD at grandmother's.
I'm off to the airport in a mo since I have to go to london for work. Sneaking down this morning so I can go and have a wander - Cath Kidston is calling me. There's some material in her sale I want to get to make a curtain for the hall door - planning war on drafts this winter. Hopefully I will resist and that's all I'll get - I'll report back tomorrow.
love to everyone"You can't get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me." - C.S. Lewis0 -
Morning :hello:
Boss is back in the office today, and I finished the paper I had to write for his boss, so am feeling marginally less stressed today
PLUS...
After today, I probably won't be around for a few days for various reasons - all enjoyable! Tomorrow I'm out of the office on a fire training course (these used to be theory classes run by the company, but are now "practicals" held at the local fire station where you get to look at hunky firemen and play with, um, hoses - (thinks: why is there NO clean-sounding way to say that!)). Then I am booked into student accommodation at Imperial College for four nights for the final weekend of the Proms. A lot of my friends are not terribly interested in tomorrow's Prom concert, and neither am I, so I think a bunch of us are going to go out for a meal. Then Friday's concert is more Mozart and Saturday is of course the Last Night. Will text Penny-Pincher when I know where I'll be standing on the Last Night, so you can try and spot me if you're watching it on telly!
Snowy - I bet you're relieved to have been signed off work for a while ((hugs))
seraphina ((hugs)) sorry you're feeling low! Could it be hormonal?
jockettuk - best of luck to your DD on her first day at school. Has she made any friends since you moved that are at the same school?
Roz_V - I taped both programmes on Saturday tooI watched the X Factor yesterday but haven't yet seen the Xtra Factor. Just wait until you see the two girls singing The Lion Sleeps Tonight. It has to be seen to be believed
Any sign of johanne? It would be good to know she's OK.
See you later

Morning everyone:hello:
I am new here, but thought I would join in and get to know you all. I was also born in 1972 Punky and I am 34 already, so maybe you won't feel so old now.
I feel for all you mums seeing your children off on their first day at school, hope everything goes ok for them and have a relaxing day. My son will be 3 in October, so should go to Nursery soon, I feel nervous thinking about it.
I have taken DS1 to school and DW is on.
Today I plan to sort out the Avon delivery that arrived yesterday, bit of extra money coming in today. Then I will make my dad a banana and walnut cake for his birthday tomorrow, plus I need to make a corned beef and potato pie for dinner tonight.
Thats enough for today I think
Hope you all have a good day0 -

I loved Wham too, was gutted when they split up, but did see Andrew Ridgley in Barnstaple a few years later when he was going to the theatre, and went to see George Michael in concert way back when !!!!!0
