Morning all!
Good luck to all the ds's and dd's starting back at school today - getting quite choked up reading through the thread and imagining mum's watching them go off through the school gates.
SnowyOwl - hope it goes well at the drs - thinking of you, stay focussed on what you want/need.
Ageandjo - sorry to her about your sister. I've found in such situations it is best to offer support and an ear when required but to try not to get involved too much as it gets messy. Sounds like her kids are looking after her which is great.
Hello dlb and Hex2 - I'm also new to the daily thread - it's great here!
Happy Birthday Ms London!
Busy day today. PIL coming over this morning. MIL has alzeimers so I've agreed to take her one half day a week to help FIL and give him a break. It works well for everyone as DS adores her and they sit and play games/jigsaws all morning which helps both of them.
Then got a birthday party this afternoon so ds will be full of party food and doing circuits when DH gets home!!
Have a good day everyone.
Love Punky xxPunky x0 -
Penny-Pincher - ds looks so smart, you must be so proud! Quite choked up now...Punky x0

Morning all
Snowy be honest with the doc, I've been there and the longer you leave it the worse you feel and the longer it takes to get back to an even keel, feel free to pm me if you want to talk it through. It takes alot to face up to, but you feel so much better for doing it in the long run. (lecture over - sorry).
Ageandjo it is a horrible situation to be in, luckily I was close when my SIL was going through similar, but it was still difficult because you can only do so much without getting frustrated. I found the best way was to sit tight and be there when they needed you, just letting it be known that you will support them throughout the situation. My SIL is now finishing her last year doing her DipSW and there is no way she would have done it with him around, she understands that it can take on average 7 serious incidents for a wife to leave an abusive husband (any type of abuse).
Good luck to all the little ones (and not so little) starting/back at school today.
Happy Birthday to Ms London have a fab day.
Huggles to everyone else who needs one and those you just want one.
Last day w**king from home for me this week, away tomorrow and Thursday, not sure where Friday. WM is on, DW needs emptying and I need to deicide what I'm cooking for dinner tonight as it is my turn (I only cook one day a week, as I'm learning), am going to do something from the recipe thread, thinking Irish Beef and Guinness Cassrole or Fish Pie, will go the supermarket later and see what's on offer.
Edit to say: Welcome to dlb and Hex20 -

Morning everyone!
PP- Your DD looks so smart, you must be very proud of her! I have never seen a picture of you before. Its interesting to see what people look like isn't it?
My DS went back to school yesterday. He is in year 6, last year at primary school. We have the dreaded high school selection process to face in a month or two. He started off well last night, doing his homework immediately and about half an hour of reading as well. I wonder how long that will last!
Just packing up an ebay parcel to send at the moment. I have done quite well on ebay recently. Yesterday I transferred £80 out of my paypal account to my current account to help towards DS's birthday present. He is getting a Nintendo DS. Its quite an expensive present but he isn't having a party this year. I told him that he has had 10 parties now so it is time to pack up. He doesn't know but I have booked a tour of the Anfield stadium on Saturday for us all. He is a massive Liverpool fan so I know he will be thrilled to bits.
My mum wants to see if she can get cheaper gas & electricity by switching so yesterday I took all the details of her usage and I will go on u-switch later to check it out for her. She is 75 but as bright as a button! I'm sure if she had a pc at home she would be on the internet all the time. She gave me yet another carrier bag of plums yesterday. I have already made enough plum jam to keep us in jam for a year so I will have to be creative with these.
Right, must get going. I have a job list to attend to!

Morning
Went to a fabulous concert yesterday - the Royal Albert Hall is back in full working order after the fire on Sunday. Though there is still a bit of an acrid smell in all the corridors - yuk!
Oooooh, guess who I "met" yesterday! I was collecting for charity on one of the exits from the hall after last night's concert (the Proms charity collections support various music-related charities) and who should come up to me and put some money in my bucket but Joanna LumleyShe really is unfeasibly gorgeous. Not fair - if I look half as good at her age it'll be a miracle! Seemed very nice too - said hello and everything - a lot of people just put their cash in the bucket and ignore me!
Very busy today so can't stop. Boss is back from holiday tomorrow, I have two MAJOR pieces of work to prepare for him, and they must must must be done today - not least because I'm out of the office on Thursday and Friday (and I need to leave at a reasonable hour tomorrow).
Hello dlb and hex2! :hello: :hello:
ageandjo - ((((hugs)))) to your sister.
PP - because of restrictions on my work internet connection I can't see the piccies, so will look later when I get home. Best of luck to DD
Happy birthday Ms London!
