    Morning all,

((hugs)) to SnowyOwl - at least you've got the 'phonecall out of the way now :) Good luck at the GP's tomorrow.

Bargain_Rzl - men can be such a PITA, glad you made it home AOK.

Ok, so now I have to admit something ... erm, who is Steve Irwin?

This weekend has disappeared, not quite sure where though.
We did have some good fortune though, I asked a chap if he knew where I could find some sloes / damsons and he replied ... in his garden :) So, at lunchtime on Sat, DH, DD and I trotted off and picked some sloes / wild plums and some apples. The wild plums aren't ripe yet, but he reckoned we could make wine out of them - so nothing ventured, nothing gained! The damsons also aren't yet ready ... so may go back in a couple of weeks for those.

I made some damson jam from the damsons I picked from further South last week .. but, I over-set it .. so whilst it's not quite cement, it is fairly firm :rotfl: . I also made 12 jars of apple chutney, which are now safely stored in a dark cupboard to mature :) (Still have lbs and lbs of apples left to prep)

Today, I need to try and source some more demi-johns as DH is getting obsessed about everything he can find ;) Current thing he is eyeing up is a mulberry tree whose fruit are almost ripe  .

Right, time to get dressed, put a load of washing on and do some work.

My aim for today (this evening) is to sort out the paperwork which is lurking around this house.

    Morning all!

Thriftmonster - you made me laugh - I've been saying that about the Irish sea for years!:rotfl:

Snowy Owl - was thinking about you this morning. Hope things will start to look up soon.

Good luck to everyone who's got people back at school although if it were me I'd be looking forward to the peace and quiet!

Skiving a bit from work today - been doing my daily clicks and thinking of lots of nice things to bake or cook! Attempted to make breakfast pancakes yesterday but they stayed very flat - apparently if you cook them on too high a heat all the carbon dioxide that makes them rise escapes too quickly. Oh well, live and learn.

Reading proofs for a paper we submitted to a journal - it all looks good except they've left everyone except my boss off the author's list!

    Have a good day everyone!

morning all.....(((HUGS))))) to those who need them...Late posting, we have been up to feed the horses and walked the dog collected a load of blackberries and I have done the mince for the supper Wednesday, daughter and grandchildren coming for tea, the live close to where we are staying.

Not really feeling great again this morning, I have an appointment at the Doctors next Monday am going to speak to her, not sure if its the tablets I am taking for the waterworks or the ones for my cholesterol, I need to get a blood test to check my liver function.......

Dull morning in Rutland but not cold, did not need a coat when we went out, all quiet here apart from the occasonal scream from the jets at the nearby airfield, they like to low fly over us, the noise is horrendous when they do.... the dog hides...

Picked up a load of apples, will peel cook and freeze them to take home with us,brought a load of bags to freeze them in, will also make an apple crumble for dessert tonight.

Cleaner will be here soon, so better tidy up the stuff I have been using before she gets here........

    Coffee cup calls...........

  • Snowy - I was not really put in a dangerous situation because the party was breaking up at that point anyway (after all it was after midnight!) and thanks to a very lovely friend, I was escorted all the way to the nightbus stop in the Strand (XBF lives in Earl's Court) ... No thanks to XBF though! - who, incidentally, is now acting as if nothing happened (I emailed him to let him know that the Royal Albert Hall is back open for business and tonight's concerts are officially back on - hurrah!) ... So I'm wondering whether he even remembers the incident  ... There is a lesson to be learnt here ... Avoid XBF when he's drunk, he turns into an offensive inconsiderate lout ... Anyway my pink sweater has turned up (at his flat) but not sure about the hairbrush!

Lovely DH has come home from work absolutely exhausted as he only got two hours sleep but he's still gone in to bath DD and he's going to wash my hair and when I said I could manage the ironing he asked if I was sure and that he would do it if I got into difficulties :D

    Hiya Everyone!

It seems ages since I posted on the daily thread. In fact, I haven't been doing much on here at all for a few months other than reading . . . and I certainly haven't been able to keep up with what everyone's been up to.

After reading today's offerings I thought that the following seemed to be quite appropriate for quite a few folk (no offence to any men who might be reading!) I hope it makes you smile.
    A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE...

    A set of screwdrivers,

    a cordless drill, and

    a black lace bra...

    A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE...

    One friend who

    Always makes her

    Laugh...

    And one

    Who lets her cry...

    A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE...

    A good piece of furniture

    not previously owned by

    Anyone else in her family...

    A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE

    Eight matching plates,

    Wine glasses with stems,

And a recipe for a meal that will

    Make her guests feel honored.

    A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE...

A feeling of control over Her destiny...

    EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...

How to fall in love Without losing herself...

    EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...

    HOW TO QUIT A JOB

    BREAK UP WITH A LOVER

AND CONFRONT A FRIEND WITHOUT RUINING THE FRIENDSHIP...

    EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...

    When to try harder... and

    WHEN TO WALK AWAY...

    EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...

    That she can't change

    The length of her calves,

The width of her hips, or

    The nature of her parents...

    EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...

    That her childhood
    May not have been Perfect...
    but; Its over...

    EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...

    What she would and Wouldn't

    Do for love or more...

    EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...

    How to live alone...

even if She doesn't like it...

    EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...

Whom she can trust, Whom she can't,

And why she shouldn't take it personally...

    EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...

    Where to go...

Be it to her best friend's kitchen table.

Or a charming inn in the woods...

    When her soul needs soothing...

    EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...

What she can and can't accomplish

    In a day...

    A month...

    And a year...
