Have just been skipping through todays thread. Sorry to hear you are having such a bad time of it recently Snowyowl. I may not always post, but I always feel like its chatting with a bunch of old friends on MSE when I do. Hope you feel better soon.

This is my first post for a week or so, as i've just got back off holiday. We had a lovely week in Poole, but spent from 10.30am until 7pm last night travelling back to Hereford. (Only took about 4 hours to get down). We got held up by the Red Bull air race at Longleat, and were also stuck behind 2 bad accidents! I was so glad to hit the sack last night.

Today, I spent time catching up with 6 loads of washing, picking plums and freezing them (from tree in garden), general sorting and tidying, and playing with 3yr old DS. Also went shopping this morning.

P.S. If anybody gets the chance to pop in upstairs, at Boots in Bournmouth (by Debenhams) they have loads of stuff reduced to silly prices. Got some Botanics Hairspray for 17p, body creams for 34p etc.

Good luck to those on the school run tommorrow. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

    Best wishes ...powie:smiley:

Hi Seraphina...I know you are right, I should tell her that what she says is hurtful, but I don't think I could stand a conversation like that either. It is v.hard to listen to though. Anybody want to swap??

I know exactly what you mean. I could quite often tell my mum that she has upset me but I know its not worth the hassle I would get after that so I keep quiet. You have to remember that she has her own agenda and that just because she says something is so that it doesn't mean that it is. I try to take everything my mum says with a pinch of salt because I know its how she is and can't help it, but it does still upset me (and Im 41!). The one good thing about it is that I make sure that I praise and praise my own daughters when they do well, console them when they don't and don't harp on about what they can't/don't do.

Look at the positives in your life and what you have achieved. By this I mean the fact that you have your own place and you make your own decisions and earn your own money.

I just see that my mum sees my glass as half empty when in actual fact I know it is half full!

((((Snowy)))) I really feel for you. I hope things start to pick up for you tomorrow. While I know everyone on here is eager to support you I do hope that perhaps you also get offered some counselling as it sounds as though you really could do with a one to one. Don't ever underestimate being homesick, nor how hard being so unhappy in your work can be.
If ever you want to please feel free to PM me, I've no magic wand, but I've been through similar.

Pooky - I'm sooo jealous of your success today, but pleased for you at the same time of course :D Well done!

Smashing - good to hear about your break, you certainly deserve it.

Sorry, forgotten everything else, and I was supposed to be in bed 40 minutes ago. It's my first day in college tomorrow and I'm really nervous !!!! I just hope I'm not going to be the only oldie in the class! My friend managed to get enroled on a different course last Friday, so if any of you are thinking 'I've left it too late' (ahem, naming no names SHEZ :D) it's not necessarily so, lol.
Right, nightie night, sleep tight, hope the bed bugs don't bite :D

My mother usually announces at various family gatherings that she is embarrassed that she is the only one not to have grandchildren. How subtle. She wouldn't dare say such a thing to me when there is nobody else present.

Moggins...what's a heated waistcoat when it's at home? (And wouldn't your arms get cold??)

Good luck for tomorrow Kaz, remember what I said! It's got to be worth giving it a go even if the tutor is a ditz!
