  • i'm having a bit of a slob this afternoon. This morning was quite hectic, as DH and FIL were gloss painting and moving my new furniture in. We'll need another coat at least of gloss which will have to be next weekend now, but we have crossed a lot of things off the list this week, so i think i will have to get a nice card and send it to him through the week.

FIL also treat us to a meal out last night so i didn't have to cook for them.

Unfortunately, when we got the furniture out the boxes, the coffee table has a tool mark in it where they have started making the wood into one thing, and then used it for this. We've had it about a month in the garage, so it will probably be tough to get them to swap it for us. That will have to be next weekend to.

While they were gloss painting, i managed to get in the garden and do an hour and half of pruning of the lower part of the garden, so the view from the window is prettier. I also got a few other chores done, so i'm chilling now so i'll be fresh for tomorrow.

i'm glad some of you made it to boot sales. I want to go to one but keep having other stuff to do.

hope the rugby was fun vicky.

glad you made a decision snowy - you sound a lot happier today. What bargains did you get at dunelm??? I won't get there till next weekend so another week of no curtains downstairs for me. ;)

best go as i'm starting to feel hungry and i want to roast some sausages in the oven. Best start them now.

    Michelle, xx
  • Afternoon all!!!

Well, this afternoon turned into a minor disaster!! Just after 2pm I burnt my hand whilst making coffee at work!! Think the whole pub heard me when I shouted "f***********************************ck"!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Had to go to A&E, all bandaged up now and got to go back tomorrow morning to see the burns unit. I'm sure it'll be fine though. Just annoying as I was meant to be working tomorrow night too, but will lose money now if I don't:rolleyes:

So didn't get my roast at work :( but boyf's mum has invited me for roast tonight! :D Bless, how lovely!

Hope everyone has had/is having a good day.

    Take care all xxx (((hugs)))

  • Afternoon all,

Feeling a lot better today. Popped into the hospital to collect my discharge letter, but it still hasn't been done.

Went to our local park this afternoon to the 'Green Festival'. Freecycle were there along with loads of stalls and things for kids to do.:T

Came home and have just had garlic chicken, hm roasties, hm yorkshire, hg runner beans and gravy.

Just had a family meeting and have decided that as the last 6 months have be pretty rough what with my nan dying and my health not being too great, we have decided to go to Centre Parcs for christmas!!!. :j Can't wait. We have booked a 2 bedroom executive villa on the edge of the lake overlooking the country club at sherwood forest.

We have been saving for the last year or so, basically a rainy day, fund as we have no debts other than the mortgage. DD will be 11 so a nice age for her to go.

Oh well best get on, back to work tomorrow after 6 weeks off. (perks of working in a school).

Have a good evening and hugs to all that need them.

Hello everyone, hope you're having a nice sunday!

Well done on finishing the essay PP - its a great feeling of achievement when you finish something like that, isn't it? It sounds like you're a great aunt to your niece, so I hope she appreciates you and your OH :) I also hope she gets the help she needs.

Not too busy a day here today. got a few things done around the house, and we went out for a drive this afternoon. I went to the local meat factory shop yesterday and got a pile more meat than I usualy wouold get in one go, but if you spent £10 you got something for free so thought it was worth a try! The steak I got went for yesterdays dinner and it was lovely :D You can definately tell the different to what you get in the supermarkets! It was a good price too so I think I'll be going back there again, but I've enough to keep me going for a while :)

Back at work tomorrow, and its going to be a busy week, so it should pass really quickly! Hugs to everyone, take them or leave them as you please :D
  • Well, I finally managed to get DD some shoes from Clarks, after the 3rd Clarks we went into today 23_30_120.gif

My chicken carcass from yesterdays roast has been in the SC all day with some wine, carrots, onions, bayleaves, peppercorns and water - will strain that off in a mo :D

Just about to make dinner - DH is currently hoovering downstairs 36_19_2.gif - sorry probably driving everyone mad with my new use of smiley central :D

Hope everyone has a great evening

    Byee

Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )
Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)

Poor you, Purpleprincess. I burnt my hand a few years ago by knocking a pan of peas over it, so I can understand just how painful it is. Hope this isn't too graphic for anyone but the skin came up in huge bubbles! Once the hospital treated my hand and sterilised it though it was much better and the pain seemed to go.

Pennypincher, you seem like such a good aunt. Im sure just having you to talk to will help your niece no end.

Moggins - If you freeze tomatoes they do go watery and are only any good if you are then using them for something like soup.

Smashingblouse - that holiday at Christmas sounds lovely! I feel like doing that myself. Im so not in the mood to bother with Christmas this year that I would love to go away!

    Hi everyone again

I went to Dunelm Mills, realised immediately that my nerves couldn't take the noise, heat and masses of people pushing trolleys and buggies along the far too narrow aisles, so after 15 minutes (most of which was spent in the cafe) I turned and went home. There were a few things on sale but not much. The sale wasn't worth the hour's drive to get there. I decided to call into a big Sainsbury's on the way past...same thing happened, far too busy, far too noisy and I couldn't stand it I so left pdq. What a walking disaster zone I am.

I have managed a wee bit of housework, but I will never be a threat to Aggie, Kim or Anthea. But I'm home now for the rest of the day so will try and get a bit more done.

chaMichelle - your furniture is from John Lewis, isn't it? They are usually very good regards customer service, so I'm sure you won't have a problem with them.

Purple Princess...oh your little hand, oh no!! And you said one of those naughty words Bargain Rzl says when on roller coaster rides... I hope your hand gets better very quickly, it sounds so painful. That's you and Moggins with injured hands. Is this a budding new trend in OS:rolleyes:?

PennyPincher, well done on getting your essay completed...they take so much energy so I can imagine the effort you put into it. BTW you are a fantastic auntie, firstly to be so approachable in the first place that your niece picks you to turn to you, and secondly that you give her your time so freely.

foreverskint, ah you escaped the tyranny of washday blues!! I hope you've enough clean things to last until the machine is fixed though.

Oh I am wrecked after all that driving, I need a lie down. See you all later.

Can I just ask, is it too early to start the OS Monday 4th September 2006 thread? :D
