VickyA - Sorry about your house news. It is total pants when things like that happen. The first house I put an offer in fell through as well. I was heartbroken and in tears for hours. The very next day the house next door to the first one went on the market and I got that. Worked out better as it was cheaper and a better house :D

Hi to all, but special friendy Hi to Vicky. I've been there, and this year, at last I have the dream class, so I feel O.K. about my job. Keep on keeping on.
    Topher.

P.S. Sis stopped teaching career in M.K. 5 years ago, because it was too demoralising...... what a waste of a degree.

I'm still in my NQT year! I don't want to give up yet and waste all that time and effort. I've got one friend who is stopping teaching after a year of teaching................................. and I thought that she was the archetypal "perfect" teacher.

On the house front, my Mum nearly broke down after two years of paying out for house purchase expenses, only to have the purchases fall through at the last hurdle. Eventually she got one that is currently worth 15 times the original value, and has watched each & every one of the houses she'd set her heart on & lost, have disasterous things happen to them. One had a whole side wall start to separate from the house. Don't want to gloat, but they had been the one's who had treated her the worst, and cost her the most money.
Things often turn out for the best in the end.... and I'm not just tripping that saying off, I mean it!!!

In which case, don't give up. Being the perfect teacher sounds to me the perfect way to hell bearing in mind that the job can be a bottomless well of effort & dedication. Once you've done this year (which was supposed to be hellish, didn't anyone tell you? A bit like new motherhood.... worth it eventually, but what a shock the initial phase is.) once you've done this year, you can start turning it into "Just a job" I don't mean lose the vocational aspect, just to create some kind of balance, and not forget your own entitlement to a real life outside of work. Northants (I think that's where you're from) doesn't have the best rep. in the world.

I guess that stupid teacher has never heard that us vegans actually EAT cakes! I've a ton of eggless cake recipes and none use vinegar either.

Justin's (Mr Perfect138) chocolate cake is legendary - YUMMMMM.

I'd also like to welcome Csarina to the OS addiction board.

Not much to say - whacked out after a day with m-i-l yesterday  Actually was surprised I had a brilliant day with her, but then she's 5 months younger than me, so I can treat her like a little sister :rotfl:

Hope to be on here a bit more than I have been.
Hugs to those that need them....

    Morning everyone!!

    Hurrah it's Friday.

Before I begin, please join me in wishing Mushy Peas a very happy birthday. Hope you have a fantastic day MP, and that you celebrate your day in style.

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 29th Sep 06. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

I haven't been to bed yet, been reading and what have you, the hours just slipped away unnoticed. Never mind, at least I don't have to go to work. Oops sorry, I meant w**k.

    OS plans for today...

    wash bed linen
a bit of sprucing up around the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom
visit library before the school kids get there, pay my fine (£7.50 ahem) and find a good book on knitting
    visit charity shops
go to shop for knitting needles and a practice ball of wool.

The soup I made yesterday from the stack of veg in the fridge has turned out fantastically gorgeous, I'm really proud of it! I'll have what's left of that for lunch, and have what's left of my chickpea curry for dinner. This is a very OS eating today...all planned leftovers.

Have a fantastic Friday everyone, specially you Mushy!!

    Bye all
