    Afternoon everyone.

Thanks to everyone and their birthday wishes last week. I feel like I am getting old tho'! Hubby got me a stick blender and a mini food chopper so can't wait to try them out. (Oh and also underwear, CD, DVD, jewellery, jewellery box......just realised it sounded a bit boring when I had just mentioned the kitchen stuff).

Got back yesterday from our short break in Majorca. Had a great time but unfortunately holidays don't last forever. Was meant to be back at work today but have had to take the day off. Was bitten on my foot when I was away and have took a reaction to it. Foot has swollen up and I can't put any weight on it. Went to see Doc this morning who has given me tablets and said the bite is on a nerve and this is whats causing the pain!

Loads of washing to do but have only managed one load so far. No rush I suppose - can't see the shorts and vest tops getting used much more this year.

Will probably have something easy for dinner tonight. Pizza and wedges perhaps.

    Have a great day folks.
  • I've been to the library. Anyway I got a book on breadmaking (by hand, don't have a bread maker), gifts from the kitchen & a book for knitting for beginners. Now I just need wool & needles...

Oh and Queenie thanks for the link about putting up curtains. If I ever move into this place I'll need it  :D ....
Not *if* ... *when* (PMA!) :naughty:

You might find this thread useful (talks about lintels; I'm more familiar with lentils  ) "Attaching curtain poles ... "

    :hello: Welcome 'home' Mushy ((hugs))

I've had an entertaining hour or two ( oopsie! :o ) entering competitions with no expectation of winning, but it was good to do something different.
Had some beans on toast for my lunch and I've put the left over beans to one side to add tonights 'leftovers revisited'.

skystar - I use vest tops in the autumn/winter under shirts and jumpers; added layers = added warmth in our house

Charity shops for needles and patterns (patterns aren't particularly great but  )

Wool - you can get some lovely wool these days in the £-shops, just remember to match up the batch numbers :)

    Good tip

We use fleece blankets here. To be honest I don't own a jumper or a shirt. Always feel kinda restricted (?)...dunno if that's that right word but I know what I mean

I like to pack my summer clothes away so they look kinda new for next years hols.
  • Afternoon all :j

Back home from work - DD is currently [strike]doing her homework [/strike]watching bratz

I can smell my lovely beef stew from up here and am so glad I put it on this morning - just got to make dumplings and tea's all done :D I've made DD's packed lunch for tomorrow, just about to iron some clothes, wash up, hoover (again  ) and listen to DD's clarinet practice ;)

    Welcome back Mushy Peas :T

Better get to it - I'm not going to get that little lot done sat here :o
Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )
Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)

I was meant to be meeting a friend today who I havn't seen for a long while but she's just texted and said she feels ill. I'm up to date with my work as I did extra yesterday to make up for not working this morning so I'll get on with an essay for my course instead. I don't want to spend too much money if that's at all possible.

No idea what I'm cooking today but I'm hoping it will be something quick and easy.
Well having all that spare time gave me time to get all those niggly odd jobs done today. I wrapped my daughters birthday presents up, vacuumed and scraped the dog hairs off the carpet, freshened the carpet with bicarb, wrote an essay about what factors influence people to visit a place as a tourist attraction, went to the supermarket and bought something nice for pudding and still had time to watch some TV. It was great!!

Yay, I made flapjacks and they came out fine! Phew. After some of the posts about them not turning out I was a little worried, but they are lovely...if a little too buttery for my liking, so I think I will adapt the recipe a little next time :)
