Hi, this is the Daily Thread for xx (add date). This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Ok Ok I know I am being very bad so will take myself to the naughty step in a few seconds time (or in my case bed;) )
Cos Im working away tomorrow (and may be having an impromtu meet with all canary wharfers:j ) I just wanted to say
Happy Birthday to Learning to Save:j  :j  :j  :j
Have a great day all and if you never hear from me again you know that roller coaster they call city airport had a problem:eek:
Hugs to all
Nels xx
41 minutes on the naughty step now:D0 -
Hi everybody, a relative newbie here, in spite of the post count...(I post sooooo infrequently on the daily thread, that I can't class myself as anything like a regular!) and I am quite nervous about posting - in light of recent posts - I hope I'm OS enough to qualify!...:p
Well, I am clearly suffering from insomnia so I have battled my way right through the ironing pile (right the way to the bottom!!) - not sure if that counts as OS, but its certainly an achievement for me! Maybe I should strive for insomnia more often!;)
We have friends coming to stay for the weekend, so I need to attack the guest bedroom today (at the moment, it is a bit of a "dumping ground" for newly-washed clothes/spare towels and sheets - its so easy to just pop them onto the clean double bed rather than find somewhere "official" to put them...then we just "dress" from the spare room, so the problem is self-perpetuating, I guess...), so today will be a full scale attack with the Stardrops and microfibre cloths (and hoover!). Plus, I must re-do my kitchen floor (again a job for microbfibre + stardrops - I did it this way last week and it looked great!). Everything has to be ship-shape by tomorrow evening as we have (freebie!) tickets for "The Devil Wears Prada" on Thursday, so nothing much will be accomplished on Thursday evening...
In the meantime, aforementioned guests have requested home-made ice cream and biscotti, so today is the day to get those made and stored away in advance of the weekend!
I hope everybody has a great OS day (and you don't mind me posting here - I am very, very gradual in converting to OS, so I am still very much the amateur!).:o
Happy Birthday Learning to Save!!!:bdaycake:

Hello everyone!
Happy birthday Learning To Save...hope you get a massive cake and lots of fantastic cards and cakes!!
Well done Nelski for remembering to put in the introduction to the daily thread. For some reason, if I happen to be the one starting it up I forget to do that. Well remembered!
And Piglet, gosh Piglet there are no "qualifications" as such required to join us here in the daily!! It's a delight to have you along - though I suspect your victory over the battle of the wrinkly washing may be the envy of many a regular old styler up and down the country. This is something I aspire to - however I have taken to just shoving stuff in the wardrobe unironed...
The homemade ice cream and biscotti sound fantastic Piglet...and I bet they really are fabulous if your guests have put in a special request for them....
Old Style in my household today will not be too taxing (and to tell the truth, it never is anyway!). I'll do the humdrum things like empty and reload the dishwasher, maybe wash a load of towels, make a cake as yesterday's cake didn't materialise after all, and do whatever else happens to make my fancy as the day progresses.
Have a great Wednesday everyone.

Morning all!
Welcome Piglet! Come and sit by Auntie Penguin and we'll have you OS in no time! Any chance of the biscotti recipe? I love to dunk in black coffee.

Morning
No too much OS in my house today.
I'm off to London (again) - dinner is chicken curry from depths of freezer.
I'm meal planning like mad for october. I am determined to improve our Grocery spending.
Hopefully I'll get home at a decent hour and be able to make some bread. Thinking of using the bm to knead etc and then finish in a proper loaf tin in the oven.
Happy Birthday Learning to Save.
Take care everyone.
PS I'm not taking my cards with me today so I can't be tempted by the airport shops- evil places."You can't get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me." - C.S. Lewis0 -
Good morning peeps:hello:
Just having my coffee in relative peace before OH goes to work and rest of the kids surface (DD is already up and at it- she's learning her spellings)
My neck is playing up (when isn't it? ) so I've got one of those heated wheat bags draped round it which helps.
When they're all having their breakfast porridge I'm going to get the slow cooker on for a beef stew - don't use it very often.
After I've got rid of the kids I'm going to cycle to Tesco and get a few essentials. Then I'm going to make pizza bases and par-bake them, freeze them so I've got something quick for tomorrow's supper.
Then if I'm still feeling energetic I'll do a bit of gardening0 -
