  • Morning everyone.

I also rose earlier than intended today. Perhaps because i managed to sleep all night with no loo stops. So far this morning, i've had to sort out my lap top which is playing up a bit, tidied up the living room, including sweeping the laminate floor, and had my breakfast of muesli.

The cats have been amusing me greatly. We bought them a giant tiered scratching post last christmas (a bit like this one) and its the first time i have seen them play properly with it. It has a tube on the bottom they can run through, and holes to climb through, and they had so much fun skidding around on the laminate, they are now sock on. :rotfl:

I'm letting DH snooze a bit longer as we stopped up late watching a film (in her shoes) which i loved and DH persevered with.;)

it's too wet and foggy today for anything on the line for me, but i have a ton of washing to do, a trip to local shops for milk and fruit/veggies. I know DH wants to paint the living room radiator today as we still haven't got that back on, and it will be too chilly if not done for the baby. I also want to go to my sisters later and pick up the rest of the baby things she said i could have. I have most of the clothes, but it is equipment now like moses basket, cot mobile. So all in all, probably a busy day for us as DH will be at work tomorrow.

Why do the weekends always descend into pure chores when you work??? I am trying to have a routine, but at the minute i'm too tired to get through very much so i guess that's how its got to be.

Love and hugs to everyone. Hope the mini-meet doesn't get rained off. Didn't lillibet say it was a picnic???

    Morning everyone

Very wet here, but at least the airs fresh. It's currently blowing through my house.

Today I am going to finish making that apron I started. I have big boobs and find that when I wear normal aprons, the front kinda...slips to one side all the time. Not very attractive, and you can bet that the uncovered side is the one that gets covered in flour or whatever.

I'm really good at computing, running training courses, and all sorts of weird things, but I just can't get my fingers and brain around sewing. So, I bought an old fashioned apron, the one with ties down the back, and it's fab. Except it is really frumpy, and my husband started muttering on about putting rollers in my hair and a scarf on my head.

So I decided to make myself a smart black one, using the frumpy one as a template. I know its not difficult, but I'm just hopeless at it. I will finish it today. I will. I will.

I've already made 5 of Delia's wonderful Creole cakes. I'm also going to make three traditionally iced cakes today, and make 10 christmas puddings for steaming tomorrow.

ANd finally, I'm going to make some christmas cards. I got some really gorgeous fabric on Ebay, which has Christmas pictures (bears, snowmen, santa) in 1.5 or 2 inch squares. I'm going to print some plain cards with Christmas wishes inside, and then I'm going to use one square to decorate the card. I think if I use pinking shears to cut them out they'll look stunning. Very OS.

Might make a beef casserole for dinner. I don't use a slow cooker *ducks*, but I find if I brown the meat, onions, garlic in a saucepan, add the stock and mushrooms, I can then transfer it to a casserole dish for two hours and it's all done. So delicious, and so easy.

For those of you going to the mini meet - have a fab time, looking forward to hearing about it.

    Have a good day everyone

Hi Y'all, hope you are all having a good weekend. I'm off shopping in a bit with a fist full of Boots vouchers I earned paid2clicking so I hope Boots have plenty of BOGOF offer on LOL. I will be keeping an eye out for early christmas gifts too. What shame they don't do cookware anymore - I really miss it!

Weather here a bit damp and grey, the mists came in really thick and low last night it was well spooky like in those old black and white thrillers LOL I'm hoping it stays dry for next week because I have a job for a couple of days delivering first reminder electoral roll forms and don't relish the thought of doing it in torrential rain. LOL

Not much OS hapening today, once the washing has spun I shall stick on the airer in the gargage and have soup heating in the SC for lunch. Mrs MATH and I are out on the razzle tonight so watch out...LOL

    Morning everyone. :j

I'm another having difficulty getting enough sleep. Have to say that it is most unusual for me, I usually have the opposite problem :o.

Still, it meant I was awake to see the beautiful autumn dawn this morning. The park opposite was coated in a low lying mist but the tops of the trees were still showing and were tinted gold with the morning sun. It left an impression, as you can no doubt tell!

So far this morning the BM is on, I cleaned out and tidied my vacumn cleaner (ie junk) cupboard because last night when I was putting away my shopper in there everything fell out on top of me :o. WM is on with a load of bedding which I'll dry in the TD so as to have an airer free weekend in my living room. I'm now half way through the usual weekend clean and tidy of the flat (or I was until I decided I deserved a break).

There is a French Market nearby today so I'll amble along there to see what they have to offer a little later.

I'm being lazy with food now that there is just me to think about so this weekend I want to load up the freezer with some HM ready meals to have when I get in from w**k. Naughty, but you know how it is after a long day and my SC doesn't have a timer, so things get overdone.

6 portions of Beef and parsnip stew is going to be my first effort. Then some soups. I invested in an assortment of Tub-its for storing meals. We have a microwave at the office so when I have to work late/weekends I can take an HM meal in with me. Has anyone tried Tub-its?

Wooo! The microwave has just arrived at long last! So, theorectically, I should now be able to function normally re cooking! I am a microwave virgin so the list of disasters follows shortly :D I'm under the (no doubt wrong) impression that this model can handle pastry properly... should be fun!

Have a wonderful day everyone. icon7.gif
My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead :D

  • Morning all! It was misty/foggy here too first thing but now the sun's out and it's beautiful outside.

Going to have a lazy day today. OH has had to go into work  (unpaid!)so am on my own, bliss. Have a loaf already in the BM, but that's all the cooking I intend to do today ;)

The plan is to get going on making some quilted placemats for my friend's Christmas present - all my presents are home made this year and this is the first attempt I've made at quilting. Got some pretty fabric online in a sale so reasonably cheap too.

    Breakfast: bacon butty (yum!)
Lunch: not sure, probably something like jacket potato and beans
Dinner: something light since I'm singing tonight and don't like singing on a stuffed tummy :o

Have a great day, everyone! FF xx
  • Morning all - both newcomers and regulars alike!

I've been a busy little bee this morning! Up at 4.30am (for some reason), snoozed over a cuppa for an hour or so and then browsed on the puter for a while. DS arrived and forced me to face the kitchen. But since then, I've got the BM on, made a banana version of the fat-free Weetabix cake (hope this one won't burn to a crisp!), got the WM going with all the school shirts, cleaned the loo, put the remains of last night's Chilli in the freezer for Calzones another day, got tonight's mince out and the chicken for tomorrow. I've fed the dogs and the guinea pig - and need to do the birdies prior to vacuuming round later on. DS has bathed and is now upstairs wrapped in Blankie, watching t.v. OH is still in bed sleeping off last night's 5ltr of cider. He'll need to get his act together before we're due to visit his parents at 2pm, to collect 12 packs of tobacco they brought back from France for him. At £42 for the lot, it will represent some £100 or so saved on the tobacco bill and keep him going until the end of January or so. :T Very worth doing, even if finding the £42 all in one go is going to be painful.

Oh, by the way, I made my first little bobble hat for Innocent last night - on the Richter Scale of cute, its WAY up there!! I shall take a pic of it, because it fits DS's Darth Vader figure almost perfectly - and he makes an "interesting" model.

Have a fabulous day, one and all - and big huggles to those who would like one .. and, as usual, :p to the rest. :rotfl: :D

  • morning all.
well i am having a rubbish day already.
thursday i had to cancel some standing orders, the woman at the bank promised me they would go back in at end of business yesterday, latest 8 this morning. I got up at 9 to check and its a !!!!!!!g tenner overdrawn, i dont know what im going to do, wont be able to get kids packed lunches or anything. im sooo upset, been crying all morning, no one can lend us a thing, its sooooo unfair, why did the stupid woman at the bank lie to me.

    sorry for the rant.
  • Rach - ring them and ask them what they can do about it. Don't risk being charged for being overdrawn, get on in there and tell them what's going on and that they've left you severely compromised. Its amazing what they can do when you stand up for yourself. Don't forget, its the squeaky wheel that gets the grease, so keep on squeaking! Big hugs!

    Hi everyone!
Well the weather here in Sussex is sunny and gorgeous so hope everyone who's heading to Eastbourne will have a fab time!
I've got the morning here at work so will pop in here between students' questions for an update.
Am hoping on the way home to do a very quick tour of the charity shops to see if there are any new threads for me. That material girl is hollering loudly at present!!
After we've had the home visit for the cat this pm I shall make a ginger cake in the BM for this weeks lunches and then possibly do a bit of sanding or weeding or maybe just put my feet up with a cuppa depending on how the mood takes me.
    Have a great day
