Hi Pink, I'm sorry if my earlier comments have upset you and been taken as a critisism of you personally, they were not meant as such. I have been away for most of the summer and am unaware of what has happened on OS during July and Aug but to be fair I had stopped posting regularly and stopped reading weeks and weeks before that as have many many other "in the begining OS'rs". The problem doesn't lie with the BG's but with us posters. the main areas that cause the mess IMO are:

People posting threads where the subject already exists but the are too lazy to search first.

People posting questions that can easily be found out by doing a MSE search or heaven forbid GOOGLE. How many times did Squeeky have to post "Look at the recipe index!!!!"

People having private conversations in the daily thread which the rest of us have to sidestep.

People only ever posting on the OS board regardless of the subject matter. There are other boards on MSE so if you are taking about when to put the central heating on why the hell are you not on the gas/elec board!! Martin was dead against this sort of thing as it creates a community within a community.

People thinking they can do exactly what they like on the board regardless of the guidlines and if they are challenged pack up their mouse and threaten to go home.

These are my views, I am entitled to them and I shall voice them because i think an excellent board is going to the dogs because we cannot post within the guidlines, consider others or think for ourselves.

  • Pink, you DO deserve PAD and to prove it I'm going to put some more pink on!!! :T And unlike AussieLass, with reddish hair, pink is not that fetching on me!!! :p But the greyer I get the better it suits me, so another few years and I'll look ravishing!:rotfl:

Hi everyone [and any new faces Welcome!]
Special day for me today as a Druid as it's the Autumn Equinox so have bought some goodies from Sainsbury and the cider is chilling for my friend and I to celebrate tonight whilst hubbling and bubbling in the kitchen:beer:
No doubt OH is having a thrilling time because bless him he's fixing the leak in the loo today..I've bribed him with a mince pie!!:rotfl: :rotfl:
House is hoovered and washing sorted for this evening. The next couple of days are going to be mainly worked based but hope to use the SC and the BM to make a ginger cake sometime over the weekend. We're also attending an event held by the Cats Protection League so if we pass the home visit perhaps we will have chosen a moggie before my 40th next week.:T
    Enjoy the sunshine

  • Wow, it really is a lovely day here, can't stop myself washing!!! Quick as I hang it out and get another lot going, the first lot has blown dry. Problem comes with the ironing mountain!!! That's growing at a rate of knots. Might have to adjust my approach to what maybe can do without being ironed this time?

Hadn't taken any notice of the date Aril, so hadn't noticed it was the equinox. Have fun tonight and hope you do get a kittie in time for your birthday.

    Hello everyone :hello:

Is there a way for BGs to post as "themselves"? I'm just using Pink as an example here - could we have Pink-our-mate, and Pink-the-BG? Is there a way of knowing if she's just joining in with the chat or wearing her BG hat? I think BGs get problems because it's not clear to us who/what they're posting as :undecided I know what I'm trying to say but I don't think it's coming out quite right :o

 I added my daily bit to this tread by mistake, just cutting and pasting it over to today's thread :D

    Afternoon all,

Grr, where is my shopping?! I need it to start baking!

Today I'm aiming to make mincemeat, quiche, bakewell tart and cookies. Do the ironing and tidy up. Oh, and make some parsnip soup (if my pans big enough!)

    Breakfast: Toast
    Lunch (ish): Parsnip soup
Dinner: Oven Fried Chicken, spicy potato wedges and corn fritters (yes I am making all that myself)
We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment

I was so windy here that I sorted it from the line into ironing and non ironing piles and there was only 1 item to be ironed. DH and DK's will never know!

Sounds delicious, I came across a corn fritter recipe this morning and thought about making it at some point.
