i know that this wont go down well with some but the reason i stoped posting is i found know one (apart from j.d) said hello .while at the same time would list loads of other peeps and engage with them .
i did find it very hard to make even 1 friend let alone a few.
Personally I tend not to go in for trying to acknowledge everybody cos it gets extremely time-consuming and tends, as you've proved, to make some people feel left out if they're not named. Generally, I'll post once a day (usually around 10am) having read through the thread so far, and I'll just say specific things to one or two people (not the same people every time, you understand, just anybody whose posts I can add to productively). Then after that, if I post again, it'll be in response to a specific post which I've had something to say about. I'm sure nobody intended for you to feel left out, and I'm sorry you did. But hey, I do remember you - I remember you explaining that your username was cos you had a vast family (I think), not that you were in fact vast :D

Forgot to say HAPPY 21st BIRTHDAY TO JOHANNE! Are you reading this, hun, you've not been on for ages?

Well, I can see that I'm not going to get anything done today as the postman has just brought me this big chunky book

I'll let all you breadmakers know what it's like later ;)
Think I might send it back :o Very very full of info, but a bit overwhelming and complex. Very interesting and good on what's wrong with mass produced bread, but I already knew that. Only thing is I've apparently been making my bread wrong all these years  I don't think I want to change the way I've been successfully making 8 loaves a week so it's back to Amazon it goes. Also for beginners it seems very intimidating (and it's all in metric and I'm an imperial girl ;) )

Hello all you new people:hello: hope you like it here.

  • Afternoon everyone :hello:

It's nice to see some newbies and some "returnees" posting again today. And those of you who have "left", get back here pronto, cos we miss your posts!! :D

Today I had to have some more therapy on my back, neck and jaw. It seems to be working and I thik I'll only need 1 more session before dropping it to every once in a while. My back account is also pleased with this, although if I can prevent myself becoming as bad as my mum (mega-severe arthritis plus many other ailments) then I don't care what it costs!

Been to mum's as she's not good ATM. Sorted out her bedroom,s put stuff in attic, did her shopping and lunch etc and generally let her use me to offload all her worries. So, not been home long, just enough time to put DW and kettle on really.

I start picking up another little boy from school today (it now gets so confusing who I take/pick up and when, I'll need a spreadsheet to remind me :rotfl:) Upshot is that his mum will take my 2 in on a thursday morning so I can have a lazy day if I want :j (yeah, right!)

Have a mountain of ironing to do tonight and quite a few items in the sewing pile. Need to put WM on before I go on the school run too.

    B: Porridge and prunes
L: Beef sandwich, stewed damsons and carnation milk
    D: Sausages, potatoes and veg.

Poahpaws : I use Pollock all the time. I try not to buy cod as it's too overfished. I generally use it in the same way as cod or haddock. No-one knows any different and in fact Lidl's (or Aldi's?) fish fingers are made from Pollock and friends boy insisted he ONLY EVER ate cod and wouldn't eat POllock (which I was eating) :D:D I waited until he'd eaten all his then told him - he's fine about Pollock now.

Catch ya all later. Happy Birthday to Johanne and (((hugs))) all round, especially to those feeling a bit lost cos the thread is slightly different. It'll get back in the swing in a day or two, it's just people are tippy-toeing round each other today :)

Based on yesterday's thread, I popped over to DT to see what kind of 'chat' you guys have - the first thread I read came across as quite unfriendly, so I ran back to OS for shelter :)! Anyway, I thought now was as good a time as any to start posting in the Daily, so..

    Hello! :hello:

Today I need to do my meal plan/shopping list, and I'm going to do my first ever online shop with Mr. T - any advice?

Also have to clean the bathroom and finish hoovering the flat

Did all my washing and ironing yesterday like a good girl, but may do a bit more ironing tonight when yesterday's washing has dried. Joy.

Dinner is Spaghetti with Chilli-Tomato Sauce (can't remember the proper name - Matriarca? Marinara?)

I shan't say individual hellos for fear of missing someone out, but hugs and welcome to you all.

I have just finished Vaxing the carpets (with stardrops of course) and it looks much nicer now:rolleyes: The dirt that came out was incredible:eek: Need to just tidy my bedroom and the house is finished for the day.

Made a nice little wholemeal and granary loaf today and 24 fairy cakes which my little one 3, has iced and decorated with sprinkles.

right off to get dinner prepared and get ready for work.

    Hi again

Just wanted to wish Johanne a Happy Birthday...it's her 21st, isn't it Nicki, so a v.special one. I hope she can celebrate it in style, thanks for passing on our good wishes if she doesn't see this herself.

I managed to get a wee bit of kip in the end, but what a waste of a morning.

Mr Postie brought me a cheque from my Halifax shares sale, so need to go into town to pay that into my bank. Every last penny of it will go to some credit card debt which has been hanging around for a long time now. I can't believe my own stupidity at not paying off my cards sooner than this. This time though they are getting cancelled - I'll just have one for emergency.

VastSarah...I remember you too...the first time I saw your name I thought you were being unkind to yourself - but then later saw your explanation that the "vast" bit didn't refer to your actual person! It stuck in my mind - glad to see you back.

I'm taking a leaf out of TinkerbellUK's book and doing a spot of chatting. If we lose ALL the chat we lose the heart and soul of the daily thread...

I haven't seen pennyPincher!! today - hope you're alright PP. Please hang onto those purchases you made yesterday, you deserve some luxury in life. Anyway they sound like the sort of clothes that you would get useful wear out of - not that you need to justify yourself. It'd be different if you'd bought yourself a designer evening dress or something.

BeachBeth - I find myself on my own a lot too. Some cafes I am too scared to go into, mostly either the posh ones or greasy spoon type ones. Most of them are OK if you can figure out if you're supposed to sit down or queue up and therefore not look too uncool... I try and have a gawp in the window to make sure there are sufficient tables so that I can find somewhere to sit in peace and not end up standing there like a lemon.

I could ramble on for hours...but going to resist....promise I'm not ignoring anybody!

    See you later/tomorrow.

  • Afternoon All

Beachbeth, I used to feel the same as you but as Dannahaz and Bargain have said it is lovely having a peaceful lunch on your own. I do still take a magazine but Ive noticed a lot of the cafes where I go always have a couple of people sitting on their own. One I go to 'encourages' table sharing but that isnt really my thing. Give it a try I started because I often used to pop in this town on my own and could resist a certain coffee shop now I dont think anything of it.

Course went well and the other people on it seem nice. Today was mainly form filling and H&S matters, think will be going over things I know for a couple of weeks but that suits me fine.

Anyway got another treat came in to find that OH is cooking dinner - Shepherds Pie, so will have jackets another day, so definately a good day here.

Off now to print some photots off my camera which have been there for ages.

    Have a great evening.

    PS
Happy 21st Johanne - hope you have a brill one.

Edited to add - Hello and welcome to all new posters.
