    Cat,

It hasn't happened yet. It's 4.30pm now. So a little while to go yet. Booked the table for 6.45pm. :D Off to have a shower and get ready soon.
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

have never really bothered about cooking but now we need to watch the pennies got some insoiration off this site. My latest creation was 2 chicken breasts, some leftover veg in the freezer. one huge almost past it potato, 1/2 can cheap coconut milk and a couple of tbls thai paste from aldi. It was really really nice and with some rice there was enough for 2 days for 2 people. probably would not even have tried it before. also made some soag bol but had to freeze that as i dont like it that much and hubby can have it next week! great site-but addictive.

We are in Qld but I presume the laws would be similar in Western Australia. I hope she gets it sorted out soon. She must be feeling the distance atm with no family or friends around to give her support.

    Morning all.

Another sleepless night including wandering round the house at 1.30am turning off lights that the SD had left on. In work early so I get to go early, which is nice as it's Friday.

Ageandjo sorry to hear about your sister, hope she is OK.

Penny pincher I do so feel for your daughter. I was so worried about starting secondary school (many moons ago, 23 years eek). I was worried I'd be in the wrong place/wouldn't know where to go/get lost etc etc. After the first day I didn't look back and couldn't believe how worried I'd been. Has she got a friend to walk in with?

OH did washing up this morning so that was a job less to do and I've not hung out the washing I did yesterday as it's looking a bit grey and rainy. I'll sort it out after work.

Soaked fruit for Bara brith last night so I'll be making that tonight with the casserole and bread. I hate putting the oven on for one thing.

Weekend involves stardrops/microfibre cloths and elbow grease!

    Good morning everyone!

Actually the "good" doesn't apply to the weather. It's raining! Fortunately I have no washing to go out today. DS will be home from camp tomorrow, so there will be loads of washing to do then.

    Hi to all.
PP enjoy your hospital-free day! I expect DD will be fine when she actually starts her new school; it's the thought of it, not knowing quite what to expect, that is the worst part.
    Aussielass - happy anniversary!

Yesterday evening someone came to look at our car. I don't know whether to hope he wants to buy it (he's coming back today to look at it in daylight) - which would mean I will be without one until we can get a new one, or to hope he doesn't want it, in which case I can't order a new one!!!! We need the money from this one to buy another car, cos I don't want to get a loan. We will have to use our savings as it is.... bang goes my new kitchen!!!
On the other hand, the running costs of a smaller car would mean that we can replenish savings easier. That's the theory, anyway!

    Have a good day, everyone!

    :hello: Gooooood Morning, OS'ers :D:D:D

 Happy Anniversary, Aussielass  Enjoy your meal ;)

moggins - so what's first on your list for the Kenwood? ;):D

    Katgoddess - Great page!! :T :T :T

Had a fabulous day yesterday, boys got a great report from the dentist and he was very impressed with them as people too. He asked d11yo what he wanted to do when he left school and his jaw almost hit the floor when ds replied "Pensions Advisor" :rotfl: (Don't think he was expecting that) When off for a really enjoyable lunch - much to their surprise - and were perfect little gentlemen, gosh I felt soooo proud of them.
Went to the shopping centre after to get them some shin guards and socks for their footie club. The shop is closing down and we got some great deals! Then off to Boots and with the machine, got a voucher for some free Wet Wipes :T Also picked up a couple of men's gift sets (original price £5 each, reduced to £2.50 but price at till .... £1.25 :j :j ) for the gift cupboard.

Did a bit more work on the peg loom ... decided that el cheapo carrier bags don't rug up particularly well, but great to use as a practise. Will be moving on to those lovely thick 'posh' carrier bags and using a different thread for the 'warp' (only had string around the house when it arrived and it's not really the right thing for the bag rugs). Need to get up into the 'studio' (part converted loft) to dig out the old clothes/linens and I'll have a go with those at some point too. I'm amazed at how quickly the work progresses and it's a doddle to do while playing "Millionaire" with the lads :D:D

    B: Yogurt with granola topping
    L: Cheese and coleslaw wraps
D: Baked Sweet Potatoes stuffed with ratatouille

On our local news there was an item about the * National Trust Visit Free Day - History Matters keep it free * on the 9th September, so planning where to go to have a fun, free day out :D:D We're already members of English Heritage, but this will be a great way to visit a NT property.

    * Update: Have put a thread up about the Heritage Open Day in the Days Out board (bit more info about it there for anyone interested ;) )

Also, I heard that from today, the wishes of the deceased will take priority over relatives regarding organ donations so I'm amending my online donor registration today.

Making a date and walnut cake in the BM this morning, then I want to make some huffkins for later.

Have a lovely day everyone

PS: Pinch, punch, 1st of the month and bagsie no returns! :p:p
