  • This is the last post for a while. I really MUST do the dishes. :D DH has just hopped in the shower. Drat.

Shez It's not that hot over there now is it. It doesn't sound normal. Could be perimenopausal (sp) symptoms but you are still a bit young for them. I don't know if you are overweight. Do you think you are? I would keep an eye on it. Even write down in your diary how often you have them.

Cat & Doddsy I never was that brave but DH worked an awful lot away from home when our kids were little. Having no family to call on for all those yucky jobs you just had to learn to do them yourself. The boys were no help as they grew up either, they were bigger whimps than me.
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

  • Wow, four pages to read already! Morning all, happy birthday to Purple Princess and hugs to Ros-V. Hope Penny Pincher is feeling a little better now too.

Have just done the weekly shop along with DS20 and collected a ton of bits for him to take back to uni on Saturday, am too embarrassed to post what the total was at the checkout  but at least he won't starve for the first week anyway :rotfl:

Quiet day planned, did my weekly spin round with the vacuum and duster etc yesterday so it's just a matter of keeping it down to a dull roar now. Still got a huge pile of ironing whinging at me so will get to that later. DS is going to cook fajitas (his favourite) for tea so all I have to do today is organise a sandwich for lunch! Yay!

Have a great day everyone FF xx

Can I ask? Does anyone sweat alot? I seem to be sweating an awful lot lately, especially in the mornings - so much so I cant even put any make up/etc on cos it wld be waste of time!
Is this the menopause starting:eek: or am i just overweight and unfit?

I do just lately too! Ive never been a very sweaty person and its always took a lot of heat to get me sweating but just lately the slightest rise in temperature will get me sweating and I also am more likely to sweat at night too! I have to keep my legs cool in bed otherwise I wake up with them almost soaking and its not normal sweat its like water! Im 41 and am hoping it is the start of the menopause because my periods are so awful that I will be glad to see the back of them! :)

it was one of those horrible wake ups where you think "Where am I? What am I doing here? What's going on? Why did I set my alarm when it's the weekend? Hang on it's not the weekend...but what day is it? OH Hell I haven't done......" all in about 2 seconds

This is most mornings for me!!! :rotfl:

You are lucky, Nicki. I had a terrible time at school with my periods. Awful, searing pain and I would be rushing to the loo with diarrhoea and to be sick too. A lot of the time I couldn't eat properly for 2 days until it had all subsided. My mum, however, was very old fashioned and absolutely refused to let me go to the doctors and be put on the pill. She associated being single and on the pill with being tarty and was worried about what people might think! I assured her that I wouldn't be going round telling everyone but she wouldn't have it! :( My youngest daughter is now suffering the same so I have made sure she has the pill and doesn't have to suffer like I did.

On a different note, I have just taken an orange and coconut cake out of the oven (recipe in my Be-Ro book) and the smell is absolutely to die for! Im going to make some orange icing to put on top when it cools and then sprinkle with coconut. I am dying to try it!!! :D
  • Shez....don't even think about saying "yes I'm overweight" to AussieLass. You aren't!!! You may not be quite as slim as you were in your 20s say, but you most definitely look slim and are a normal healthy size for any age!! If you drink coffee in the morning it might be that. Or you might be having too hot a shower then rushing around not being able to cool down. I think consider the simple things which might be causing you to get a bit hot under the collar before torturing yourself with thoughts of the menopause!

Roz_V - would it be possible for you to book a new flight to your holiday destination and join your family a few days later than planned? Your BF is v.kind insisting you should go - you've got a good catch there. If you're comfortable to let him make the decision for you to go on the holiday then do it. He will have the rest of his family around him and you can call him every day. I'm sorry that you and he are having to go through this horrible time.

    Morning All!!!

Didn't post yesterday as was busy and felt very odd all day.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY PURPLEPRINCESS!!!!!!!!!!

Penny Pincher - wishing you better. (((Hugs)))
Welcome to Mrs Mix & Bubblebathgirl!
Nicki - hope your day improves, felt a bit like that this morning too.
Elona - sorry about the house sale.
Roz - sorry for your loss.
Moggins - keep an eye on that. A friend of OH's had some thing very similar last year and was signed off for it. He just stopped eating, no reason whatsoever. They tried shrinks and everything but he only started again when he finally felt like it. Very odd, you're not stressed at all are you?
Elona - where are you - it's very hot and muggy here still.
Joannasmum - so sorry about your car.

Got a letter from EDF (gas) this morning informing me that they were upping my DD to £110 this month for the next 6 months - I don't think so!!!!! Rang them up and told them so, so am paying £60. What a rip off!

Apart from that all well, DH on hols this week so think he's taken root on the sofa playing 360 games. He's back to work on Sat, must think of stuff to do with kids, would be nice if the weather was like last weekend. ;)

    Breakfast: muesli
    Lunch: HM shepherds pie
Dinner: Spanish omelette for us, salmon for kids.

Hugs to all in need. Have a lovely day all.

    Morning all!:hello:

Moggins - hope your appetite comes back soon, but smoothies sound a good idea in the meantime. I was trying to remember if you've had a virus recently - that can often leave you with no appetite. I remember once after an upset tummy I felt as if i'd never want to eat again, and what did it in the end was canned fruit cocktail and ice cream!

catznine- sorry to hear you've had bad news, Hon! The stress will affect you so don't try to do too much today. (((HUGS)))

Ageandjo -sorry to hear your lovely horse has hurt himself and I hope the vet's bill wasn't too bad!

Nicki - hopefully the rest of the day can only get better! A suggestion about your DD's top button on her blouses - when mine were little I read a good tip - cut the top button off and sew it back on using shirring elastic.
    Works a treat!

    Purple Princess - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Churchmouse - I can't believe you slept through last night's storm! Perhaps its path meant it went past Eltham rather than over it. It came from Greenwich apparently (according to DS's friend who lives near the top of Lodge Hill). We were woken at 2.40 by a tremendous bang overhead and we think something farly close by must have been struck by lightning. DS was quite embarrassed to find he was nervous because he'd woken with such a start - he said he felt as if he was 10 years old again, and we went round the house unplugging things to be on the safe side. Oh well, there was such heavy rain that it should have done wonders for the reservoirs!:D

Penny Pincher - sorry to hear you are feeling so carp today, hon. Hope resting helps. ((((HUGS)))) Are you meant to be doing your exam this week?

Aussielass - I was interested to hear that Vegemite is good for ulcers! I wonder if it would work with Marmite? Perhaps not, as that's yeast extract so a bit different. Taking zinc tablets helps too btw!

Snowy Owl - good luck with the job applications - and

Scottish Spendaholic - good luck with the interview!

Mrsmix and Bubblebathgirl - welcome to the Daily Thread!

I should be busy today making sure everything I want to take on holiday is washed and ready to pack so it doesn't all have to be done in a rush, but somehow can't summon up the enthusiasm....I'm at that stage where I almost feel I'd rather just stay home, as getting ready to go away is such a huge effort! Still, I know I'm lucky to be going, so will find the motivation from somewhere. I think part of the problem is that my DD2's DH will be going back to work just as I'm going away, and I feel I should be around to help her with baby DGS if necessary. When I had DD2 I had to do without my Mum as we were in Germany (and then our youngest was born several years after Mum had died), and I could really have done with having her nearby! Still, DD has loads of friends with young children and I'm sure she'll be fine really. Better go and sort my washing out - the sun's out, so a good day for making sure I've got some clean bras to take away with me!

    Have a good day all!

I'm suffering too and I'm also wondering if this is the start of the menopause as I'm also 41, In one way I'm hoping it is and not in others as I don't fancy all the other symptoms that come along but I've had really heavy periods for the last 6 months and won't be sorry to see the back of them.
