Shez...a good place to look for blackberries in London is on towpaths by canals. Or on the fringes of Epping Forest (think that's sorta close to you??). You really wanted me to tell you, didn't you?0

That's probably true Shez...though I am struck by the irony...I noticed that the blackberries being sold in my local Sainsbury's are a product of Poland...0

Ooo - you two - now I'm wondering what I missed before you edited your post shez...
Didn't get much more done in the afternoon - my friend came 'round for some input on a decision her and her daughter are trying to make. I'm the worng person to ask - I can't decide what's for tea let alone anything major!
Did a little more on my gate - mr nice neighbour didn't come over to help finish off as promised, I think perhaps yesterday proved a bit too much for himI know it did me. Sorry, I'm waffling. Only came on to nose at what everyone else has been up to - must say I'm in awe at all you've been up to the past few days Snowy...
Ooo - that was it! Aussie Lass, at the bootsale today two ladies told me that Strawberry jam is possibly one of the most difficult to get to set - but you can melt it back down and put jelly in it to rescue it! I assumed they meant the jam type 'jelly', but now I'm not so sure.... Perhaps it'll jog someone else's memory

Evening everyone,
Day of disasters and cooking. DH blocked up the kitchen sink drain and ti took him 3hours to repair? When he used the plunger at first all the water went up the WM overflow and all over everything in the under sink cupboard.
Made roast duck with roast potatoes, mash, roasted butternut squash, carrot & swede mash and broccoli, followed by rice pudding made in the slow cooker (and I made pate using chicken livers and the liver from the duck).:D
However, I dropped the roast potatoes all over the floor when taking them out for basting, luckily i wasn't splashed and I'm afraid they were scooped up and put back for their final crisping:o . They seemed ok, hopefully the heat will have killed off any germs.
Just watched Joyce Grenfell on BBC4,brought back many memories. I was a very strange child, I loved old fashioned programmes like hers and old music and musicals - Goldiggers of 33 etc. Still do in fact.
VickyA I'm sorry to say somehting very similar happened in our local Upper School. They were on special measures and the Head who came in was very controlling, They got out of special measures but all the best staff either left or had breakdowns within 2 years. My DD got 3 as and a b at A level along with probably a dozen others in her year, that was 5 years ago and this year I don't think anyone got more than 1 a. DS went to another 6th form because the school had suffered so much. I hope you have a better experience.

Goodmorning all,
It's pelting down with rain here. Rained all last night so won't bother doing the mound of washing today.
Pink & Snowy Well done on your jam making. Pink, I hoped they were clean stockings. I'm making some mulberry jam today and have got a nice recipe for mulberry pie as well. Will freeze all the excess fruit from now on and make whatever later on.
VickyA What a shame the new head is a pain in the butt. Make the term go very slow.
Well off to have a bit of a surf before I start my chores. House looks like a tip so will start on that. Have a good night's sleep everyone. zzzzzzzzzzDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -

Kaz - I just saw it. Don't feel so bad now. Typical me to start off with the trickiest one. Mine is pretty good to use. If it was runnier I would boil it up again but I'll do it for longer next batch. Thanks for that.Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0
