I just wanted to post quickly to say Happy Birthday Penny Pincher...sorry I am late posting it. I hope that you have had a great day and your roast dinner sounds fab, I'm starving!
Nothing at all OS done today as we had friends round for dinner last night and this morning I woke up with a stinker of a cold. So I have taken a day off and relaxed.
Breakfast: Bacon sandwich (from cafe)
Dinner: whatever my boyfriend makes me when he wakes up!0 -

Evening all.
A testimony for FLYlady again - our house has been up for sale for a week and we had our first three viewings yesterday. Someone knocked this afternoon and asked if they could have a quick look. OH said to me afterwards how good it is to be able to say yes and have every confidence that everything upstairs would be tidy. They had a look at the back garden whilst I tidied the toys up quickly. Coming for a second look next week so not a waste of time. Fingers crossed for me..

Hello everyone
I am just back from blackberry picking - I had lots and lots of luck and found absolutely heaps, they are in total and utter abundance if you know where to look. The place I went was v.remote, on the foothills of a local mountain - I'll be going back tomorrow to gather some more for the freezer. This evening I'm planning on making some apple and blackberry jam...unfortunately I had to buy the apples as I was unable to find a tree. Can't wait to fill the half mountain of jars I've been collecting this past year!
VickyA...you poor thing...an overbearing control freak boss is one of the worst. I can only say keep your head down, be professional, do your work and as much as it might hurt don't take her style personally. Unfortunately such bosses do not lead from the front....they lead from behind with a bloody great stick in hand...while they may well get things done that doesn't mean they have inspired respect or loyalty from their staff. I had a boss like that once...when she decided she'd had enough of us she didn't get so much as a leaving card...
Tootles - how disappointing about the car boot sale. It sounds like you were messed around anyway, having to wait until 7.00 am before you could start selling. It'd make ya cross!! On one of my car boot outings my friend was selling a huge teddy bear which was in brand new condition - she wanted £3 for it. Some girl stood and argued it wasn't worth £3 (huh!), but she was standing there with a big smelly burger in her hand which cost £2.50!!! Maybe you could pick out the best of what you have and do a spot of ebaying?
BeachBeth - it's amazing how good vacuum cleaners are these days. I had a little cheapie thing out of Tesco which I thought was fine and cleaned OK. The wheel on it kept falling off and bags were hard to get so I replaced it with a Miele cat and dog one recently. It chucks out zero dust and the house feels/smells fresher after using it, and it'd take the floorboards off it's so powerful - it's fab!
Catznine - glad you had a lovely time in Cornwell, and fantastic that you're on the mend as well. Please tell Mr Catznine I said hello and happy birthday.
Ticklemouse - best of luck with your new business.
Big hello and have a lovely evening to everyone else.
Bye!

Thanks Snowy. I know that I don't have half the problems that you're having at the moment - and mine have only been for a week! Even my hairdresser said "you look exhausted" when I saw him on Friday! Cheers! :rotfl: Well, I'm just about prepared for the week ahead, I hope........ I'll find out when I get told off.......

Hi Snowy,
I do ebay the best of the things we have to sell, what we took to the boot sale was the failed ebay stuff and some stuff that was too good to throw away. I was so disgusted I have decided to take the stuff to the age concern shop in the next village at least it might do someone some good......I am really sick of these people who want 'something for nothing' the prices we were asking were reasonable taking into account the condition etc of the goods offered. I also had a Techics CD player I was asking £10, itworked from both battery and mains and had hardly been used, I was offered £1 for it!!!!!!!!! No way hosea............ I would rather keep it and give it to one of my grandchildren........
We very rarely do boot sales because of this attitude, I will certainly be much more selective of where we sell in future.

Just a quick one from me this evening to wish Penny Pincher and swampytiggaa a very happy birthday! Sorry I'm a bit late, I hope you both had lovely days!:bdaycake: :bdaycake:Thanks to inspiration from thriftlady in this post I spent this afternoon picking blackberries and rosehips.I have cooked them along with some apples that needed using up.......so I have now have three wire coat hangers covered with stockings full of fruit suspended from my kitchen cupboards, dripping into bowls, as I don't have a jelly bag and stand. My poor husband thinks I have finally lost the plot!
To be honest I'm beginning to wonder myself.
Hopefully it will all be worth it tomorrow when I have three lovely different flavours of jelly....blackberry, blackberry and apple, and apple and rosehip. :jThank you thriftlady! :T

hya vickya, i went through exactly the same with someone on placement, it absolutly drained me and left me feeling like i could' nt do my job properly, even though i was 30 days of qualifying. she told me that i lacked confidence on the 1st day, well after that remark, i did lack confidence for at least a day until i had a talk to myself.
snowy's advice sounds good, get your head down. i did this and it worked but i was so infuriated by her un-proffesssionalism! in my last meeting with her i confronted her and challenged what she was saying about me, i think i shocked her a little, obviously, not people stand up to her!!!
anyway that's my story, so i can empathise with u. (((huggs))
let us know how u get on this week,
love dorry xxxxxxx'If you judge people, you have no time to love them'

I have been transforming my bag of blackberries and (bought) apples into jam this evening. I cannot believe how utterly and totally gorgeous it smells, looks and tastes! It's the first time I have made jam too...sorry to beat my own drum but I am stunned by how good the result is. And it wasn't difficult...if you're wondering if you should try it...go on! It's worth the effort!!
I've got lots of blackberries left over...and there are still tons left in the hedgerows, so I think I will follow Pink-Winged's example and make some jelly tomorrow.0
