Morning everyone!
Penny-Pincher - have a lovely birthday! I am 42 in another month so you seem quite young to me!
Snowy - Good luck with Sainsburys
Usual Sunday today - got roast beef cooking and plenty of veg. May have a glass of red to go with it(Blossom Hill Merlot - Yum!). WM and BM on too so everything is whirring away nicely.
SIL brought her new hoover over to show me how well it picks up dog hairs. Its a Philips and is especially for animal hairs. My hoover was bought in 1985 when we got married and is still in as good a nick as it was then and we still have all the attachments. Its more powerful than my mum's Dyson but compared to this Philips its nothing! Mine has 1000 watts and her Philips is 2000 watts so you can imagine the difference. You could see the cylinder swirling around with hair as soon as she touched the carpet with it!!! Will have to get one now!!!

Hello again everyone,
Happy Birthday Penny Pincher! I'm so sorry I didn't say it earlier! Have a wonderful day :bdaycake:
Thanks for the good wishes for the car everyone - when you mentioned it happening to your car and it then going away Snowy, I seem to remember it happening that way with our car before so all I can do is hope it'll have stopped by tomorrow. Its just like you said: a 'roaring' sound when slowing down or stationary. I admit I'm rather worried about it - I hope its safe enough to drive tomorrow! Just have to keep my fingers crossed.
Got up late today - didn't wake till 11am, but then again I couldn't get to sleep until after 2am so I guess it all evens out. The weather looks not too bad outside, so some washing will be put on - the DW has already been on thanks to the OH which is niceTea will be pan fried chicken with mash and veggies so we'll see how the meat from the factory shop is - the steak we had from there last week was lovely.
Twink - your bramble and apple jam sounds gorgeous - save some for me please!?!
Have a lovely day everyone - probably be back later :hello:0 -
Afternoon all, and happy b'day PP.
Remind me never to ask DH to have anything to do with DIY again...
We're putting a bathroom cabinet up, and after I had measured out the holes and drawn a line between them so he could check it was level (it was) he went and drilled one hole above the line and the other below it! I wouldn't mind, but its horsehair plaster so a huge chunk came out.
Now sat waiting for the polyfiller to dry before he starts again. Ah no, I hear the drill again. The filler isn't dry. Its all going to end in tears, I can just tell!
I think I may retreat downstairs and put some more washing and drying on, as it may be safer being out of the way...
Have a good afternoon/evening all,
Metherer

Happy birthday P_P
I have had an idyllic day so far, cleaned the hall - on schedule with my new cunning plan, put loads of clothes away, done a roast dinner and a blackberry crumble, and am nervously awaiting return of OH from his stag weekend. I miss him so muchHad a couple of flustered garbled phonecalls form him so I know he survived the raft building...
Doing a tesco order for Mum and kids later, for when we are on honeymoon, paying bills onlineboo hoo so i odnt get stung for any charges whilst we're away, and tried to tan my shoulders this morning (strapless wedding dress...)
Mega Heavy 'time of the month' and Im on blood thickening tablets from the doc but im too scared to take them

Happy Birthday Penny-Pincher!
:bdaycake:
I was really pleased with myself this morning, up and dressed, WM on, BM on raring to go....... Dyed the washload pink - so dashed off to Mr T's to get some colour run remover. Bread is sunk in the middle - so will whizz it up in the food processor for bread crumbs
Anyway I did manage to take my boss' trousers up (sewing in case you're) She normally pays £15 for sketchleys to do it and said she would rather give the money to me
I have said though, that I can't take £15 for shortening a pair of trousers - but she's insisting!!
DH is cleaning out the shed of dread, and DD is watching TV. I'm about to start on the school uniform ironing pile
Have a great day everyone (((((hugs)))))Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)0 -
Afternoon folks
Happy Birthday Penny-Pincher  Have a great day
Having a lazy day here today. Still not dressed
Patrick McGuinness was sooooo funny on Friday. Had a fab meal beforehand so all in all a great night (well apart from the annoying foostie smelling drunk woman who sat next to me at the show  )
Yesterday hubby was playing in a bowls match. He doesn't actually play but there was an open tournament on at the bowling club and he somehow got roped in. After I had finished work I went along to see how he was getting on. Unfortunately his team didn't do that well but he had a fun day and was fed and watered for nothing.
Have some washing in just now (trying to get stuff ready for our hols next week) and think that will be all I am doing today.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend0 -
:bdaycake: HAPPY BIRTHDAY PENNY PINCHER!
Hope you have a lovely day!
Got back from Cornwall yesterday and am trying to catch up with the washing! Have just rigged up an ol style washing line £1.50 special from sainsburys, we got rid of the old and rusty rotary line when the patio was laid and this seems to be a better idea at the moment. The washing certainly seems to dry quicker.
Got to Trago Mills while we were away and snapped up some bargains including some lovely feathery wool at 85p a ball which should make up into some scarves. Also found some fabric in the remnants pile which can go with the fat quarters towards a quilt. I love that shop wish we had one here in Essex!
We stayed on a farm near Lamorna, very close to Lands End and the scenery was just beautiful and I actually got to do a bit of the coastal walk so now I know that I am getting better :j I ache all over but it was still worth it.
Hope everyone is ok I have yet to read through all of last weeks threads, but hello to Math:hello: nice to see you back!
Sarahsaver - Gather the wedding is close! Best wishes for a wonderful and happy day and a long and happy marriage!
Well off to grab a cornish pasty, we took advantage of the 12 for the price of 10 at the pasty shop before we came home, I love the spicy chicken ones and OH likes the steak and ale pasties, so that is dinner sorted for now. I need to do a nice meal tonight though as it is OH's birthday today so must check to see what we have in the freezer. He is now a year older than me again - for 3 weeks a year we are the same age and boy does he enjoy that!
