 Happy Birthday Penny Pincher!:bdaycake:
:hello: to everyone else!
Sorry I haven't posted for a few days, but it's been absolutely hectic at work! I haven't checked my lottery numbers but I'm hoping that we've won so that I don't have to go back  Our new head is a complete and utter b*tch and the whole staff are really a) tired and b) unmotivated (already!!). I'm trying not to get dragged into the politics of it all, but it's so difficult. We just don't know how we're going to keep all of this up. Don't get me wrong, we're not afraid of hard work but we do take offence to being treated like we've just been scraped off the bottom of a shoe. Until I find another job, I need to be there as we'll be paying a mortgage very soon!
We got taken out for supper by the in-laws last night, which was really nice. I was glad not to cook supper. To make up for it, I'm cooking the Jamie Oliver chilli con carne recipe. Any extra portions will be put in the freezer.
Got quite a few bits and pieces at the Farmers' Market yesterday. We always get a couple of ostrich burgers, which seems to be part of our staple diet nowadays :rolleyes:My excuse is that they're very low in fat and lower in calories than chicken (apparently).
We watched the Last Night of the Proms erm, last nightTried to look out for Bargain Rzl, but couldn't see her
I've got to go now..... Need to pick up a couple of bits that I forgot at the Farmers' Market.

Morning all :hello:
Happy Birthday PP - please don't tell me 32 is old! (I'm 32 too)
Plans for the day - strip/change the bed, run the hoover round downstairs & organise something for tea. We've got a load of veggies to use up, including organic carrots & courgettes from my Mum. I think I'll do a roast veg with some kind of meat. I also need to find some new winter work shoes, so a trip to Tommy Balls is in order.0 -
morning everyone.
haven't posted for a few days again as i have been feeling so shattered.
Happy Birthday PP. Hope you enjoy your breakfast in bed and having guests round.
It was DH's birthday on Friday, so i was up early then to do him a cooked breakfast as a treat. He appreciated it.
Yesterday we were out for about 5 hours shopping at various places, so we now have curtains, a large rug, a present for my friends baby, and we took back some of the things that were not needed from the DIY and got a refund. We had a lovely lunch out at a place called BBs at Meadowhall, as i know some of you sometimes get there to shop. Then Dh spent about 4 hours doing the final coat of gloss paint. He just has a few patches to touch up, but then by the end of today we should be able to start bringing things from upstairs back down, and put curtains up. :T
I also have to pop to my parents today. They got back off hols late last night, so it will be nice to catch up. I also have my brothers school uniform and timetable so they know what he needs for tomorrow. (advantage of working at the same place. ) Think it will be another hugely busy day.
Have a good one everyone. Hope those of you with boot sales and bike rides and blackberry picking haven't got the miserable drizzle and fog we have here. So much for getting some washing done.

Got 10 minutes before I have to be out the door, so here goes!!!
To Penny-Pincher! Have a great day, and don't lift a finger!!!:D
Good morning to everyone else! I have read your posts, but limited time now means there's no chance of individual replies.
The weather looks lovely here in London, not sure how warm/chilly it is, haven't put my nose outside yet!!! Suppose I'd better check, will I need a cardi or something.
Hope your days go as you want them to. Check later, hopefully.
Take care CMxx

PennyPincher :bdaycake: Happy Birthday. Enjoy your day and let your family spoil you.
Frugalfairy Welcome and hello :hello:
Bedclothes are about ready to be hung out on washing line then its time to start making hm vegetable soup. I think I will need to try and clear the fridge out a bit as I am seriously running out of space but want to use up all the little bits and pieces of fruit and veg I have lying about. The freezer needs similar treatment so that's my day taken care of I guess.
Hope you all have a good one."Bad planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part."

Morning all,
My parents left at half six this morning - they got a taxi to the ferry so we didn't have to wake the boys to take them for which I was very grateful:D
DH phoned llast night from San Francisco - flight was fine so I only have to worry about earthquakes now...
Penny Pincher - Happy Birthday_party_ - your meal sounds lovely.
Dobie - as Pen Pen says definitely cook chutney with the lid off - the whole house will smellbut it works!!!
Quiet day here - need to wash uniform. Yesterday evening the boys built an assault course in the garden complete with mud patch and painted themselves liberally with mud a la commandoes. The bath is now clean but I think the clothes in the WM might need another go. I just tell myself it's better for them than sitting at the PS2 all the time:rolleyes:
Vicky - good luck and hugs - I've been there with a boss like that so mega sympathies
Have a lovely Sunday everyone - thinking about tea - fancy something very OS like a pie seeing as it's just the 3 of us. Need to do some baking for this week and get on with Dh's Xmas socks whilst he's not here - lovely natural coloured Hebridean sheep wool from a rare breed flock“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

Morning everyone :bdaycake:Happy Birthday Penny Pincher.:bdaycake:
Hope you have a great day. Enjoy your breakfast in bed and that lovely dinner with friends.
I'm sat in Nelski's study at the moment. I've had a lovely weekend so far. Went shopping yesterday, although didn't spend too much money really. Did buy a lovely new fluffy bathrobe (I'm wearing it now, do you like it? ) and some fab "FM" bootsWell, Lilly and Skinner, fab leather, black, very classy and very high, so if you see someone tottering around Blackburn, it'll be me :rotfl: Got some new trainers too, for when I need to rest me old tootsies
We had lunch out so had a lovely meal at Nelski's last night. She prepared a good old fashioned HM, OS feast. It was very healthy too - vegetarian, high in fruits and veg, with some nuts and a bit of cheese. I'll let her tell you what she made - it was gorg.
Saw Bargain Rzl on The Proms last night. We "bobbed" up and down wit ya hun and we did a great Hornpipe too (Nels did it without spilling a drop of wine too - very impressive :rotfl: ) Her neighbours must have thought we were mad (true). Mind you, we also managed to get a lot of work done as well!!
Ok, OS begins for me later when I get home, but for now I shall finish my 2nd :coffee:. Have a good day everyone

Morning all
Happy Birthday PP Have a lovely day babe you deserve it
Thank you TM for your thoughts on my well thought out balanced OS menu -You see I am learning something from my years of OS indoctination!!:D
One quick question though that you may be able to help me with - I like to keep a track of my number of portions of fruit and veg to make sure I stick with our good old goverments guidelines so my question is - how many chunks of Cadburys fruit and nut equates to one fruit portion? also how many portions of grapes are there in a glass (large)of pinot grigio.
The rest of the meal I am proud to say was superbly nutritionally balanced with a potato course for some carbs (pringles) a nut course for dessert (Gillian would be pleased) - do salted cashews count Miss McKeith?
Nearly forgot - I started the meal with a classic detox - pomegranate and blueberry juice mixed in my smoothie maker (with crushed ice and vodka:rotfl: )
So anybody who wants my full weeks meal planner is welcome to pm me and I will send the excel worksheet over:cool:
Bargain Rzl you looked ace last night and we really did "bob" with you all - is that the only dance promers can do???:D First half was a bit heavy for me must admit (the mad trumpeter with a kilt on!) but thoroughly enjoyed the second half bar that bloke Bob (the one in the chefs jacket) who did like the sound of his own voice.
Anyway the girl now has a fantastic business plan which bodes really well for a fab future so now we are going off to lunch to delay the point where Mr TM has to give up child responsibility!!:D So till later (any requests for the menu please give me time to respond as I know I will be innundated:rotfl: )
Bye:j :j :j0 -
Morning All
Happy birthday Penny-Pincher.
Welcome to The Bride
Tootles your garden looks lovely
Foot and ankle is looking abit better this morning bit is still incredible painfull if I twist or flex it. Had a lovely time last night with HM pizza and champagne with DH.
Plan for the day is get up to date with washing and ironing as it has been abandoned over the last few days and the ironing pile is threating to topple over. Also got to get everything ready for work and grandmas tomorrow although I still havent worked out how to get there as driving is still a no no. Think we will proberbly go up to see the in-laws this afternoon if we do I will proberbly make a fruit cobbler to take with us for pud as they normally provide a roast.
Got to go as dd has just brought a book for me to read.Sorting my life out one day at a time0
