Pippad - we just have very kind friends who let us use their cottage. So don't know many residents as such. Looking forward to seeing a pic of Joshua tho'.

twink - thanks for the update re PP! I can imagine she's desperate to get home, but I'm glad they are keeping her in until she's a bit better.

betheebee - (((HUGS))), what a way for your sister to treat your kindness:mad:

Sunnyday - your garden sounds lovely!:T

Hester - so sorry you haven't quite seen the last of Katy yet, but your description of her and her friends shouting and screaming while packing, and the poor little man horrified at the sight of all her bags (well, some of her bags), made me laugh out loud! Make sure she doesn't pack your hairdryer by accident....

pippad, just seen your post - what a nice name you've chosen for your son! Looking forward to seeing a photo when you can manage it!

pink-winged - i remember how tiring it was to be asked endless questions i didn't know the answer to...but he will grow out of it!

And grumpy teenagers do eventually stop being grumpy too, there is light at the end of that tunnel!

Thanks for the kind messages, I feel quite a lot better this afternoon. :) I think it's a combination of a broken night (we were so worried that we wouldn't hear the phone when the truck driver rang us to say he was on the way, that we kept waking up, and when DH was asleep he snored more than usual), M.E., and a particularly nasty TOTM. I did have very bad vertigo some years ago and saw an ENT specialist, who did some tests, said my ears seemed fine, and referred me to the Neurology dept with a note saying "Possible frontal lobe lesion" I ended up having an MRI scan and an EEG, which didn't show anything exciting and the Neurologist shrugged his shoulders and said he didn't know what had caused it, so my GP and I decided it was just "one of those odd M.E. things".

The same with my DH, they found a lesion, which could have been there since birth, (No ME) and just recommmended he took as aspirin daily after the vertigo treatment. He's due for a check up with ENT again when we go back.
D-Gal, sounds like you do child rearing the same way I do,definitely the way to go.

Glad you spotted that it was always done with love, I think the hardest thing is to stay calm and appear unruffled, when you really want to strangle them. It frustrates the hell out of them. As for tidyness, the nearest I got with DS was to close the door, he did learn to use the washer very early though! It used to be amusing when we walked around town and he saw a unruly toddler/child and would say, "Looks like they need you for a week Mum", how come I would say, I never hit you, no he said, you never needed to!!!!

That's interesting Donny-gal! I'm glad he was okay. My ENT man was quite excited because one of the tests he did was positive (he stood behind me, asked me to close my eyes, held my hips and pulled backwards - I was meant to be able to stay where I was, but found myself running backwards so as not to fall over. He tried again - same result. He said "No, you're supposed to stay where you are, not come with me!" "Sorry, I can't!" I said. That was the test that prompted him to refer me to the neurologist:D as he had never had a positive result before! The MRI did show some "bright spots" in my brain, looking similar to those of a person with MS but in a different place. The neurologist said I had 8 and shouldn't really have more than 5 (apparently you're "allowed" one for each decade of your age!), but again no explanation. Of course I'd had to wait so long for all these appointments that I was quite a lot better by then:p

twink - thanks for letting us know about pen pin, hugs to her xx

donny-gal - why can't I be more like you? I think you should come visit our house :D;)

I have calmed down a bit now DH is home from work. He says to leave all her ladyships washing on the line and he'll make her sort it out when she comes home along with the rest of the stuff she was supposed to do earlier.

Afternoon, or should that be evening everyone!

Slept late today, well intermittently between dd3 coming in to chat to me! oh and ds went off early to watch the golf at Wentworth, with strict instructions not to wake me when they left lol! Left money out for them and food packed up in the car, and lots of bottles of water - think that was enough of a contribution without having to wave them off!

Have hoovered and done dw and quick whizz around kitchen and sitting room, rest of house will have to wait, half term now and i know that whatever I do I will never keep up with the mess they all make, so best just to muddle along and not panic too much! Will be mad tidy round at end of week as friend and her boys coming to stay and she really is a tidy freak!

Took girls out shopping, they were trying to convince me to buy them new phones, hmm thought that was why they got pocket money! They were out of luck anyway, only needed potatoes and fish, hm fish and chips tonight, and some bits to make snacks - reminds me must get pizza base stuff in BM in a bit, need sustenance whilst we jeer and cheer at Eurovision tonight, dd1 has printed off our score sheet already! Girls did make me laugh, after the first couple of times asking for something, each time one of them saw some goody they'd like the others chimed in with well make it yourself we have the ingredients at home! Did relent on buying coke and lemonade though - wow I'm so generous!

Saw the new Indiana Jones movie last night, really enjoyed it, scary thought that the first one came out 27 years ago apparently, eek!

Best go check up on dd2, she's making cakes for tonight, think she's been inspired by seeing something on telly about posh cupcakes, so I'm guessing that they won't be the usual ones she makes, i'm expecting great things.

    Enjoy your evenings everyone xx

I'm meant to be baking a cake (well 2 now - as soon as I said I was making a cake for work, OH decided he had to have one too!) ... but OH still isn't back with the bank card so I still haven't been the supermarket!

Have been invited to a BBQ tomorrow but not til 7pm so at least I'll have plenty of time to do things tomorrow before we go out!

 unexpected visitors arrived and i looked a fright!

I answered the door in filthy muddy clothes that don`t fit and my hair! well it was unmentionable :o

They`ve gone now thank goodness, i don`t know who was more shocked me or them lol.

I`m well behind with my jobs now but thankfully i`m freshly showered and changed, DH will be home from work very soon and we are off down to Ford valley with the houndlets for a nice walk.

Ivyleaf - the garden looks a sight at the moment but hopefully when it`s finished it will be nice once again. I`ll try and upload some pics when it`s looking more presentable, we had to take our lovely Torbay palm down that was near the bottom of the garden after it suffered in the bad winds last winter, it was a horrible job to do but it really had to come down, i loved it and i`m tempted to plant another but i know it`s not really practical as the whole garden thing is really about being able to fit a greenhouse in so that i can grow some of our own food.

Off for a cuppa now before our walk.

Hope everone is in for a nice relaxing evening.

After a misserable day DDH put his foot down with a firm hand and said he is going to treat us to an Indian takeaway and a bottle of wine :T as he said we are gonna be sooooooooo busy next week. I know it's not OS but why not spoil ourselves now and again.
((((((((( hugs to all )))))))))) am feeling a bit better about the situation as I can't change the way things are.
