Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Saturday 24th May 2008. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all - double-checked to make sure there weren't any other threads as I thought there would have been by now...!
Not sure what it's like outside, looks a bit murky with hints of blue behind that.... Just been to make a cuppa so sat back in bed with my laptop now
Haven't got a child free weekend anymore as exOH phoned yesterday lunchtime to announce he couldn't have the kids this weekend  and couldn't understand why I was cross.... (he should have been picking them up about 5.30 yesterday...).
Got some work to finish off for my placement over the next few days, but nothing major lined up. Will just see how it goes. Likely to do some banana bread at some point but brain not functioning enough yet to think properly.
((((((hugs))))) to all those needing them, hope everyone is doing ok. Chrisca, glad to hear your son is a bit better, I had pneumonia last summer (after having been ill on & off from the Xmas). It was only when I ended up in A&E with tubes everywhere & my mother saying "I told you you were ill" that I took it seriously.....
Just caught up on the last of yesterday's thread - Betheebee I know exactly what you mean. I tend to read other forums, but mainly only post on here - it is such a nice bunch of people & I often have the giggles. It's also a great place to rant & let off steam
OS'ers are the best!!!!!!!!!
PS - Catznine, have a great holiday
I'm sure Aussie will send us your pics.....

Morning!
Just popped in quickly to get Twinks Hobnobs recipe so I can make up a batch to take on holiday. Still not all packed yet (have to find my knitting!;) ) but we won't be leaving until about 11 so plenty of time.
We are off to the Norfolk Broads but although we will end up wishing we were on a boat, I think we have been sensible as weather forecast is not so good later in the week, visions of a very muddy pup in a small boat are not a happy thought, cottage with a bath to clean her up in sounds much better.
Just hope we can find some nice dog friendly pubs.
((((hugs)))) to all

ahaaa
I've been up for minutes waiting for someone to start - I did it myself once and made a booboo
Booked dd's trip to Canada yesterday £498 which my dsis and exbroinlaw will pay back. I've had an email from him to say that his half is on it's way but that I will have to nag her for hers. she has the money but doesn't really understand that I don't and is pretty unorganised. He won't do it cos she 'll get all shouty. You know how they say opposites attract - well in this case the attraction lasted four years, 1 emigration and 2 kids. I was shaking as the payment went through - it's a lot of money for me to spend in 1 go even if I am getting it back. dd(11) has asked me to stop telling her how easy and fun it will be to fly as an unnacompanied minor as i am in danger of making her nervous wheras at the moment I am the only scared one
woohoo - 4 day weekend. As a civil servant I get the queen's birthday off on tuesday - we are celebrating by going on a day trip to france tomorrow. what with the train times and me leaving it so late to book we will have literally 4 hours in france but dd is very excited. she has asked if snails could be considered vegetarian as she is keen to try them.
dd(22) got her test result yesterday - nanahood does not beckon again but she is relieved so all's well
oh Squiggly - how annoying - give him a poke in the eye from me
Catznine - have fun on your hols
Any sign of Benthosboy - what can he have been up to all this time?
well must get on - plans today are a houseblitz and then into town to buy packed lunch and train tickets for tomorrow - have a good weekendI'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080 -
Good Morning Squiddly Diddly, Catznine and all to follow!
Squiggly Diddly - I'm sure you were cross with exOH - can't he see the importance of either sticking to plans? Not fair on you or the kids!
Catznine - wonder where you're going exactly? We're off to Bacton on Monday, so will doubtless be visiting Wroxham and vaious other Broads villages. Our dogs love walking in Bacton Woods - but always end up covered in mud!
So far today have washed one set of curtains from the Living room, walked the dogs for 50 minutes and put the BM on. Need to do some sewing and ironing today as well as tidying up the house. ((HUGS)) to all who need one today.
Edit: Morning stefejb - we cross-posted methinks! Try not to worry - DH once worked at Stansted escorting unaccompanied minors and they are really well-supervised. Sounds a great opportunity for her - hope you get all the money back quickly tho'.Resolution:

Morning all
I'm with you Squiggly. Was a lurker on here for a while and could see how everyone was so helpful, kind and generous and knew I would enjoy my stay on here!! I wasn't wrong. Wish this board had been available when my kids were growing up, would have been a godsend cos money is always more tight when you haver little 'uns.
Visiting mum today, doing her shopping before I go up there. Home to make fish and chips for tea. Might take a trip up to Toys R Us later, they are open until quite late. I want some bits to put into a penyata (sp?) I got for my DGD's birthday party on Monday. Now we find out its gonna pee down all that day so goodness knows if we will use it indoors. Might have to put it away for next year!!!
Have a good day everyone. I must get into the routine of writing my bit onto a word document and then at least I can say what I want to people as I read the thread through. Got a memory of a goldfish.

Morning everyone,
the weather here still looks dull but i shall be spending at least a couple of hours this morning in the garden i really must get the rest of the patio moved today and i`m hoping that a couple of hours will be enough.
I need to blitz the upstairs, do some ironing and i need to do some batch cooking so here`s hoping i can fit everything in:rolleyes:
Have a lovely holiday Catznine, beemuzed you snuck in there as i was typing, enjoy your hols too. You might get to meet each other!

morning all
supposed to be sunny today, off to the library later to pick up a book by Mavis Nicholson, still waiting on Crow Country by Mark Cocker, great value as you only pay 60p for a request, then go to uncles via the village plant sale
plan to make soup and have a walk, want to keep my petrol to go to the car boot tomorrow, payday next thurs seems a long way away, its been a long month
got the big bag of cat food from kyle out of costco so that is a godsend, lasts about a month
hugs to smoky, chrisca and mrsmix
love to all xx0 -
Stef, you should have had another go - practice makes perfect, lol!!! I copy the sticky bit before I even start, so when I click "new thread" i just paste in straight in & post, then go back to edit & do my bit - seems to work quite well....!! When is your DD off to Canada then?? I'm sure she will have a great time - just keep hassling for the money!!
This is an ongoing pattern of unreliability from exOH over the last 6 1/2 years, the kids have only in the past 6 weeks started to go back to spending alternate weekends with him now that he has left new wife (after 18 months..) and STILL he can't see what's wrong with acting like that. I also lent him £500 deposit for the flat he is renting, & he owes me £250 for oldest DD's birthday computer (not a usual present, it was her 16th) and I am subsidising him £60 a week (he gives me £40 a week less maintenance than I should have, plus I pay him £20 a week to do my garden - and he can't even do that on the agreed day!!!). Will give him lots of pokes in the eyes, lol!!!!!
Martyn is obviously having a lovely time with 'his jooly'.....

Morning.
V Tired. Drink driver smahed into our garden wall last night and almost killed himself and his g/friend. I did a few heroics to save him, but long night of flashing lights and blood etc. Both are critical in hospital...
Huge mess, and garden destroyed. The same thing happened about 18 months ago. The garden has only just recovered.
Anyway appart from trying to clean up that mess.. I might go to the city and shop. We are out tonight for a meal, I just hope I don't fall asleep in the middle of it. I have a habit of doing that.
I will upload a picture tomorrow if I can figure out how to do it.NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0
