Just don't read the book 'Not on the Lable' - you will never buy or eat chicken again. Its a good read but it has put me off supermarket meat.0

What are these tesco codes? ie how do i get £5.00 off my shopping?
Is it just on the first shop or can you use it on every one ?
sorry if you have already answered this-couldn`t find it.
I usually use asda, have used home delivery from them in the past, you used to get free delivery if you spent over £99, but sadly no longer. Only use it now if it`s school hol`s etc, cheaper than taking the kids shopping.
But they always get it wrong so can be a pain.
Would like to try tesco and stock up on all these great value products.

Money Off Codes @ Tesco.
Once you have finished your on-line shop go to checkout. There will be a box to fill in if you have any ecoupons. You can put more than one code in and they will be stockpiled on your account to use on subsequent shops. One voucher is only redeemed for each shop though. The vouchers differ, some are £5 off £50 shop some are £10 off £75 shop and so on. Purchases made on tobacco do not count towards shop value needed to redeem vouchers.
Not all the codes you enter will work. Some will have expired or already have been used the max number of times. But keep a beady look out and you will some amass a clutch to take you through the next month or so. I have shopped online at tesco for about six months and have always got a least £5 off my bill each week.
Warning: This is adictive and you do soon see it as a right to get something off ya shopping ;D One week I had used up all my codes and spent 20mins scouring MSE to find a new one cos there was no way I was going to pay the full price ::)Life's a beach! Don't buy 'value' products - just go to your local low cost German supermarjet e.g Lidl, Aldi, Netti etc and pay the same money for a far higher quality product.
Many of the products sold by Lidl for example are even better than more expensive equivalents at Sainburys, Tesco etc
One of the main advantages of buying from Lidl etc is that their products are European and the laws governing what can be called chocolate etc mean that you actually get CHOCOLATE and not a bit of cocoa with milk to water it down. That's why European chocs are so much nicer than weak UK ones.
UK supermarkets continue to rip off the British consumer by providing watered down junk while still charging a premium...thats why they are making record profits!
For example a jar of tomato pasta sauce from a well UK supermarket costs 99p and contains just 11% Concentrated Tomato Puree while the 45p jar from Lidl contains 90% TOMATO and tastes like TOMATO!! Infact it tastes much better than any ready made pasta sauce I've tried - from more expensive places even!
Don't continue to be taken for a ride - buy high quality products from German supermarkets at your 'value' prices!"To be ignorant of one's ignorance is the malady of the ignorant." Amos Bronson Alcott0 -
I used to work in a frozen fruit and veg factory.Sometimes we would get out-of-date stuff in and we just re-packed it with a further 18 months date on it.Also when we used to pack products the only difference was, depending on which supermarket the order was for determined the quality of the product. e.g if it was value or supermarkets cheapest range we wasn't so fussy about quality as if it was supermarkets own brand (one up from value) they got better quality. If I remember rightly Sainsburys got the best of everything, with Tesco's getting what wasn't good enough for Sainsburys. It was exactly the same product...from the same box... but just a different quality.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. I do use Aldi a few times a year to stock up on things that I wouldn't buy in value range at tesco. IMO the price is higher than value but cheaper than tesco own. Somethings I'm not bothered about the quality of, such as bleach and toilet rolls so i find Aldi a bit pricey for these items.
How cheap is that - Claiming Aldi a bit pricey :-[Life's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0 -
don't wory, i thought the same.
Whilst some things are good in aldi others are more expensive than asda. Such as cranberry sauce and mustard. Found that out after buying it in aldi, thinking I'd got a bargain, then found asda own brand cheaper.
I was only using it in a recipe from here so was a bit gutted.
Same with fruit juice. Good for cheaper sweets and cakes though.

Slightly off topic, but in reply to what Shelly said, what are the laws concerning repackaging frozen food. I only ask because before Xmas, I went into a frozen food shop to buy some sausage rolls (not something I normally buy as none of us like them but I was down for them at the nursery Xmas party) Only when I went to cook them did I see a big sticker saying thay had been redated according to xyz laws - added at least another 6 months on.
At least I knew thay had been redated - but does this mean they had perhaps been redated before?0 -
I always try a different value product each shopping trip

That's the trick. No-one wants to be stuck with a cupboard full of nasty biscuitsI think the value ranges have got better. 10 yrs ago there was a lot I though unacceptable but now there are only a couplke of things I have tried and not re-bought. Also think it makes a difference if you are making it yourself. You can get away with cheaper beans, tomatoes, pasta etc if you are cooking yourself but maybe wouldn't want to eat the cheap ready meals.
