SUPERMARKET VALUE PRODUCTS.......BEST BUYS???

I think the idea is great - have tried many of them and only use branded products because of preference. Sometimes, if you look closely at the packaging, you can tell who makes them. ;D
Tried the Tesco 'Kitkats' last week, as a treat. I defy anyone to tell me they weren't Kitkats in a taste test. My 12 yr old neighbour confirmed this too. Even if I don't use the value stuff, I often use the own brand labels. Can't be doing with lining other people's pockets, unless I actually prefer the branded product or it contains something I wouldn't eat/use. I'm sure the value stuff is sometimes of lower quality or contains more 'nasties' and I'm now at a stage in my life where, whilst not rolling in it by any means, I prefer to buy decent quality food, but that is decided by the ingredients label, not the brand.0 -
I buy mostly own brands stuff and have done from asda morrisons and tesco in the past. tried the bread from netto and i think it's probably the best shops own i've had. i think most of the own brands now are as good if not better than the premium brands, i can even manage the teabags no problem, the only real preference i have is with coffee, can't drink a cheapo one. but everything else is fine. ;DNobody can make you feel inferior, without your permission

From tesco I get the 500g tin of coffee, its about £4 and it tastes fine.
I tried the value golden syrup on my porridge this morning, and it tastes a bit different to tate and lyle's but I WILL get used to it as its quite a bit cheaper ;DMember no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

the problem with value supermarket eggs is that they are produced as cheaply as possible so the chickens are kept in more intensive and stressful conditions which affects the quality of the product. Since having my own chickens i have noticed a great deal of difference in the colour of the yolk, and the taste of the eggs as our own hens are free range to pick grass/insects all day and are also fed a quality food that doesn't contain anti-biotics (which some intensively reared chickens are)
I would advise anyone that can to buy from local farmers etc who advertise free range eggs for sale as you will be getting a better quality product on the wholeNobody can make you feel inferior, without your permission
