When it hit £1 per litre, I converted to LPG and there is no way I will go back to diesel of Petrol as things stand. 46p for autogas against £1.12? .[/quote]
LPG comes from the same hole in the ground as Petrol/Diesel our government simply haven't taxed it yet. In fact it is Liquified PETROLEUM gasThis is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0 -

the tree huggers must love seeing petrol prices going up whilst spouting all the rubbish about using CHEAP CLEAN AND RELIABLE public transport
god i love my 30 mpg car
use public transport not in a month of sundays:D
would take me a month of sundays to get to work on pubic transportI am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0 -

Same here, 30 minutes drive in the car or 3 hours on public transport go figure!! Buses and trains don't run on thin air either rising fuel costs will effect the cost of using public aswell !!
Also I've notest lot of people suggesting buying a more fuel efficient car. Unfortunately many people can't afford to change their cars!! Also hybrid cars start at £18K which is out of reach of many families.0 -
There's some very cheap fuel efficient cars out there.
A 1.0 Saxo, Corsa, 106 etc. Small, light, no power sapping tat like air con.
The Toyota Pious might be a great example of engineering, but you could probably be more environmentally friendly by running a 10 year old 1.0 Corsa for another 100,000 miles.
Virtually all of the improvements in energy efficiency have been negated by the growth in size, weight and ancilleries in a family hatch.
I've been doing an experiment in improved fuel economy this week. I reasoned that if I could manage a 10% improvement from driving modifications then fuel would be effectively costing me £1.05 per litre (in terms of old driving style).
Because my car cost me virtually !!!!!! all to buy and I do all my own maintenance I can still stomach expensive petrol, but would rather keep my costs down.
A motorbike would make good sense, but I know too many people who've been incapacitated by gormless drivers.Happy chappy0 -
If diesel carries on increasing I won't be able to afford to travel to work!
My car does 50mpg average but my journey to work is 120 miles daily round trip. I have a PhD but can only get a job which pays less than graduate level also have atwo year old so am stuck for childcare and can't afford to move to a house nearer work as they cost so much. There are no jobs locally in my speciality. If the price continues to rise I'll have to give up work or look for something very local (out in the wilds) and I wonder how many other people are in the same boat. Trying to earn £2015 in 2015. Slightly early start
. £175.88 today.0 -
I don't think drivers worry about the price really. I haven't seen any evidence of more careful driving to conserve fuel.
Anyway it's still cheaper relative to income than it was when I started driving fifty years ago.0 -
Apart from me aiming for a 10% improvement.Happy chappy0

No. What is an 'acceptble level'? That petition is poorly constructed with zero credibility!.....0 -
