  • The value of the price of barrels hits record highs today and im now sick of all this price increase
with all the "record profits" from these companies and us having to now pay anything between £1.10 and £1.25 (and going up)for unleaded and diesel even more, its just not on and i think Martin should start a petition to send to the Goverment to say Britian has had enough !!
Just look at these prices from around the world:

    Holland 1.17
    UK 1.09 and going up
    Germany 1.03
    Sweden 1.01
    France 0.99
    Poland 0.91
    Ireland 0.88
    Hong Kong 0.85
    Spain 0.82
    Switzerland 0.81
    Greece 0.81
    New Zealand 0.74
    Australia 0.66
    Brazil 0.66
    Mozambique 0.66
    Japan 0.60
    India 0.58
    South Africa 0.56
    Singapore 0.52
    Canada 0.48
    Cuba 0.41
    Usa 0.40
    Russia 0.39
    China 0.33
    Mexico 0.31
    Columbia 0.30
    Nigeria 0.30
    Dubai 0.23
    Burma 0.22
    North Korea 0.22
    Iraq 0.16
    Egypt 0.12
    Kuwait 0.11
    Saudi Arabia 0.06
    Iran 0.05
    Venezuela 0.007

I cant believe we are the second highest to holland, with oil on our doorstep in the north sea (where i work offshore) why on earth are we paying or allowing our government to get away with this?
I dont know what martins view is on this but im sure he would like to contribute to what matters about us all gettin value for money !:T

For how succesful the "bank charge" episode is going im sure we could all start a petition and get it sent off

now i know why they all ride bikes in holland... ;)

They get better mpg (km/l) in Holland because it's all flat and there are no hills.:D

Yeah, soon hear you complaining when you do your weekly jaunt to tesco or wherever you shop and find there's nothing on the shelves because haulage can't afford to move.

Tell you what, let's get trains to take everything to shops - oh, but hang on, there'd be leaves on the line, the wrong kind of rain, snow on the line etc etc.
;)I am not a complete idiot - some parts are missing;)

Possibly the most short sighted / narrow minded post I've ever read.

    Well done.

I've a choice of two. A 55-60MPG diesel for the commuting and family trips out and a fuel sucking Capri for hooning around in.

I wish I still had one of my old Capris. I'd buy another but I've nowhere to put one unless I get rid of my old Land Rover.
It's my problem, it's my problem

And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

Thanks for all the replys folks, what we can do is send a petition to the goverment explaining and asking why we have such high tax on what we literally have on our doorstep

The fuel that does come from the north sea does get turned into petrol coz i worked around the Forties (think it was the forties) platforms which sends its gas or oil to Grangemouth. They had to shut down there production due to the !!!! down 3 weeks ago.

To be honest, these prices will just keep going up and up and never down unless we all do something about it.
The goverment are only increasing the prices coz they know they can get away with it, whats the harm in them only charging 20% tax and making britian alot happier.
all its doing is helping there pay cheques every month and their ...... "cough cough" expenses ! lol

If the Government had done a better job and oil companies didn't have such a grip over the market we'd be using vehicles closer to zero emissions right now. Now the oil companies in conjunction with the Government are promoting a non-ideal solution called Hydrogen.

But if you want to thank the oil companies for ensuring our continued use of petrol so they can ensure their profits are high, that's up to you. Have you seen a film entitled "who killed the electric car?" ?
