AA figures for May 2008 http://www.theaa.com/onlinenews/allaboutcars/fuel/2008/may2008.pdf
UK average (p/litre - unleaded) 112.6
Belgium 124.07
Denmark 120.12
Finland 118.27
France 112.62
Netherlands 129.40
Italy 116.84
Norway 130.53 (a country with a bigger oil industry that the UK)
Portugal 117.23
Sweden 115.43
Oh and Germany is 112.14 p / litre so not too far behind."One thing that is different, and has changed here, is the self-absorption, not just greed. Everybody is in a hurry now and there is a 'the rules don't apply to me' sort of thing." - Bill Bryson0 -
fill this in to get fuel duty lowered http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Lowerduty30/
Fill this in to get a snobby e-mail response from the Government which tries to sound like they care and are making loads of effort to keep fuel prices down, but in the end they just mean they don't give a f***.
I cannot think of one example of one of those petitions resulting in any change in Government decisions or policy. You would think in a supposedly democratic society they would have at least committed to supporting some suggestions from the petition site.
The petitions system is pointless and stupid IMO.0 -

The wording of the peteition is this "We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to Reduce Fuel duty to bring fuel prices back to an acceptable level."
That's it! not very comprehensive is it?.....0 -

Yes I don't bother wasting my time with them anymore. Until I hear the story that one petition on there has changed something I can't be bothered.0 -
Ive just had this from petrolprices.com in the daily email as well http://www.petrolprices.com/blog/deal-99.htmlThe petition is backed by the AA, the RAC, the Conservative Party and dozens of Labour MP's. Past petitions and protests have failed due to a lack of organisation and awareness, but with the cost of fuel currently rocketing and the government on the back foot, now seems like the ideal time to push for action. This petition, with the support of an influential newspaper, respected motoring groups, MP's and PetrolPrices.com members, has the power to force Gordon Brown to rethink plans to raise motoring taxes.
Signing it only takes a few seconds - might not be as good as what the french would do, but better than nothing! worth a try0 -

The OP's post has a big flaw! It lists absolute price of petrol around the world. In most developed countries, even that low price is very high when compared with their average income levels.
Ranting over petrol price won't bring it downRather buy a smaller & fuel efficient car or use bicycle
Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0 -
:j its brill.keep those petrol prices going up.more cars off the road and we can stop breathing fumes in.:D
god i love my 30 mpg car
