Some people need a car to get to work. Public transport doesnt exist in my area!
Petrol prices affect everyone. As prices go up so does the food we eat and the clothes we wear!

Anyone fancy joining me in digging a pipeline to Venezuela? :D

I doubt a petition would do anything. We need committed people to bring the country to a standstill to get the Government to back off like TransAction 2007 did. More French-style revolt is needed. Us Brits just bend over and take everything.

You are nearly right its 52% tax and then 17.5%vat !!!!!!!!!!!

Whats needed is everyone to start boycotting just one of the Greedy petrol companies like Esso for example
If we all (or even just 50%) didnt buy from Esso they would be forced to drop their prices to increase cutomers coming through the pumps
So if you do drive just tell as many people as you can to not buy from Esso and watch the effect
Another clueless person. What you would have to do is stop using fuel that's supplied from the Esso refinery and that means you'd have to stop buying any fuel from any garage, no matter what brand, from the area that refinery supplies.

For example, pretty much every petrol station in the Manchester, North Wales and North West of England whether Esso, BP, Shell, Jet, Morrisons, Asda, Tesco etc etc etc is supplied by the Shell refinery at Stanlow.

Simply not buying from an Esso forecourt and filling up somewhere else has no effect because the same refinery still ends up selling the same fuel.

Rising fuel prices means that retaillers have to absorb the cost of transporting retail goods which means higher prices.

Don't worry though, I got rid of my car because it did 30mpg. Good thing is I bought one which does 25mpg and sometimes dips below 20mpg, all whilst pumping out lots of Carbon Monoxide as it has no Catalytic Convertor and other wonderful fumes. :p;)

I've a choice of two. A 55-60MPG diesel for the commuting and family trips out and a fuel sucking Capri for hooning around in.

You are posting false information (about French petrol costs).

As I said in another thread here (post 34) the cost at this station in Cherbourg on Monday 12th May was 147.1 cents/litre which worked out at about £1.17.
