I was in France (Cherbourg) on Monday and the price of Unleaded (95) was 147.1 (Euro)Cents/litre. At the current exchange rate (1.257) that works out at 117.2p / litre.
Diesel was slightly cheaper though......0 -
so what should happen guys/girls? should there be more people involved before ideas are made on the next step?0

I thought you had established, by your research here on this thread, that there was no point in there being a next step.
*Sorry, just remembered your comment about your rubbish education, please ignore that word ;-)0 -
We can all point to some scheme that we consider a waste of money, but others may consider that scheme the best ever and just what was needed
My point was no Government of any colour has cut "waste" or taxes without some penalty for others in the longer term
Here's something that everyone seems to think is a waste of money and will have no penalty in the long term..
How about not spending £15 billion on a new set of submarine based nuclear missiles to replace Trident? Those who have the ability to attack us won't and those who want to, can't. So what's the point in having a nuclear capability?0 -

Getting a bit off topic, but I guess the workers in Barrow submarine shipyards, and those in associated defence companies, like Aldermaston, right down to the corner shops selling the newspapers, fags etc to same workers would feel the impact of losing their jobs?
And maybe we would feel impact of extra "workshy" unemployed defence workers on the dole?
Or should they make ploughshares instead?
I am against building the subs BTWGardener’s pest is chef’s escargot0 -
Yes, it would be so easy to cut out £101bn of waste and use the money saved on popular measures that would win it the next election by a wide margin.
Hmm. Wonder why they've never done it then.........
Because:
A. There's hardly any real difference between the two main political parties - it's all pantomime and window dressing. They're both committed to maximum taxation in order to fund the ever-expanding monster of government. The luxury lifestyles of the MPs and their cronies are integral to the £101bn wastage, so they're hardly likely to sign their own death warrants by screaming the word "value" from the rooftops
B. They know the gullible and fickle British public only care how much tax they actually pay, as opposed to how it's spent or whether it delivers value, so they can get elected with a dutch auction based around shaving a penny or two off income tax0 -
I know a boycott on buying fuel won't work but how about just not buying fuel from one oil company, say BP. for example. If we all stop buying from them they will have to drop their prices to get the business back. Then the others will have to follow suit to compete. This is not a new idea but has not been tried as far as I know.:mad:0

That's because it's a stupid idea.
The profit margins on fuel are tiny. There's little room for discounting. That's even before you consider that most petrol stations in the UK are franchises, not operated by whoever has their name above the door but by a bloke who probably makes little more than the bloke running the local corner shop.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
