Petrol Prices !!! Im sick of it....

The value of the price of barrels hits record highs today and im now sick of all this price increase
with all the "record profits" from these companies and us having to now pay anything between £1.10 and £1.25 (and going up)for unleaded and diesel even more, its just not on and i think Martin should start a petition to send to the Goverment to say Britian has had enough !!
Just look at these prices from around the world:

Holland 1.17
UK 1.09 and going up
Germany 1.03
Sweden 1.01
France 0.99
Poland 0.91
Ireland 0.88
Hong Kong 0.85
Spain 0.82
Switzerland 0.81
Greece 0.81
New Zealand 0.74
Australia 0.66
Brazil 0.66
Mozambique 0.66
Japan 0.60
India 0.58
South Africa 0.56
Singapore 0.52
Canada 0.48
Cuba 0.41
Usa 0.40
Russia 0.39
China 0.33
Mexico 0.31
Columbia 0.30
Nigeria 0.30
Dubai 0.23
Burma 0.22
North Korea 0.22
Iraq 0.16
Egypt 0.12
Kuwait 0.11
Saudi Arabia 0.06
Iran 0.05
Venezuela 0.007

I cant believe we are the second highest to holland, with oil on our doorstep in the north sea (where i work offshore) why on earth are we paying or allowing our government to get away with this?
I dont know what martins view is on this but im sure he would like to contribute to what matters about us all gettin value for money !:T

For how succesful the "bank charge" episode is going im sure we could all start a petition and get it sent off

Yeah all that oil in the north sea and we pump it in from middle east which is costing us a fortune. I think it has something to do with maggie thatcher though with what she did with our own oil rigs. Not sure what heh I was only a youngen in the 80's :)

Anyways i tink our country is too soft and lazy. People organise protests against petrol prices yet hardly anyone turns up. If everyone in the country got together and definitly went ahead and protest all over the country I think the goverment would take notice and do somthing.

With this oil prices just means everything will get dearer still. Food, postage, deliverys, transport.
    Comping again

You are nearly right its 52% tax and then 17.5%vat !!!!!!!!!!!

Whats needed is everyone to start boycotting just one of the Greedy petrol companies like Esso for example
If we all (or even just 50%) didnt buy from Esso they would be forced to drop their prices to increase cutomers coming through the pumps
So if you do drive just tell as many people as you can to not buy from Esso and watch the effect
So for the people like me(lazy git) it takes no effort at all, will work and make the fat cats in the petrol industry sit up and notice
It should be us who controls how much is reasonable to pay not the shareholders of petrol companies
If you dont ask you dont get!!

I believe we import the majority of our oil these days from Norway. Dependency on middle east for supplies had tailed off greatly since the 80s (as little as 2% of UKs oil is from that part of the world IIRC).

What really concerns me about the price of oil is that the stuff is priced in dollars per barrel. Currently getting around $2/£ means that £65/barrel, so if this was to fall to the $1.50/£ level we had a few years back, then that will be £90/barrel, which if extrapolated out would mean £2/litre.
