    Which tax would you like increased to make up for the lost revenue? If you think the cut can be afforded by the Government spending less why should the savings be used fro fuel duty as opposed to, say, income tax or VAT

    But the reason people voted for B liar in the first place was that they wanted more spent on the NHS; the Police; Education, Education, Education (remember that one ?); etc.

    Huge sums were spent on them - to what effect ? I recently saw this largesse described as a "flash flood" - a tidal wave of money, practically all wasted and leaving devastation in its wake !

    You missed the point. Apathy about the 10 downing street petition site is fully justified, it's just an excuse for them to send a response telling everyone that they understand but there are no plans to reduce tax - or that the tax is justified due to environmental issues and congestion.

    Exactly, it's why I don't bother signing them anymore. I tried to make a petition about this fact but they rejected it as being not relevant to the petitions site. Surely in a democratic society, all the people signing those petitions aren't wrong...

    When the government set the last budget did they factor in an increase in fuel prices? I say this because their taxation income is proportional to the raw cost of fuel. Hence if fuel raw costs rise then the tax income rises to. Ergo they can reduce the taxation levels and retain the income that they originally expected.
