    Just to update everyone:

    Flybe Card - accepted - £3000 limit
Capital One - accepted - limit to be confirmed
    Barclaycard Initial - declined
    Virgin Card - declined
    Halifax - declined
Aqua - just phoned them. Been declined. The process is very strange!

Suprised about the Barclaycard - although it might be because of a default with Barclays Bank from five years ago. Unsuprised about Virgin and Halifax as they were mainstream cards.

So there you - the searches on my credit reports will give me a hammering for the next six months but more opportunity to build my overall rating and acquire those lovely Green Zeroes. :T

To be honset you may of be declined because of the amount of searches for all those credit cards. How long between applications did you make them?

God that's a good price. New York would cost about £1600 for a severn night stay and good hotel.
Thats with Virgin, but i would add Premium economy which would add £250 each way.

Hi all, first time on this thread..

I've had a Vanquis card since Sep 2007, they've only ever increased the limit once, from £500 to £1000 - odd.

Anyway I finally got Vodafone to remove the default from my credit file (I must say a thankyou to jakemuk as he helped no end with my problems), only problem is it's been replaced with a "4" under late payments instead, and upon applying for a BMI Amex card just now had to give them a call and go through a grilling, it felt like a phone interview for a job at times! :rotfl:

Strangely enough, amongst the questions I expected like why were there four late payments, what my job title is and all that, I was asked why I had a Vanquis card.. just one for people to watch out for! I explained it was to repair my credit file caused by the four late payments - I was careful not to mention the default which has now been removed, for obvious reasons. He seemed happy with that but then asked why I didn't have any other credit - which seemed a bit of a daft question, but never mind, I just said because I hardly use the Vanquis card anyway (which is true) and hadn't had a need for a credit card until now.

Oh, and if you add an additional card holder but they are not linked to you financially or on the electoral roll, they will query that too, even if they appear as linked (at least on Experian)? Very strange..

The upshot of it all though is that they did accept me and are sending me two cards, total of £1500 limit :T

Congratulations. So basically don't apply for a BMI. I heard M&S do the same thing.

Keep about £50 away from your limit for every £500 chunck of credit to allow for interest.
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.
