  • Thanks and how long should I keep the vanquis and Aqua credit cards for because I have only had the vanquis for about 6 months and the Aqua for about over a month but I have had my capital one card for two years. Do you think I will still need them to bulid my credit history when the default drop off in.

36 months is a good time for potential lenders so keep the crapital one card for now!

  • I have credit expect so I will know when the default drop off and my credit limits are low. I have £500 capital one ,£500 vanquis and £250 Aqua. Do you think that I should close one of these accounts.

None of those limits should prove too problematic, so it's up to you. As long as you're managing them well they shouldn't cause significant problems. Definitely close them once you get a 'real' cc tho.

Still no reply from Halifax over the appeal. I am expecting another refusal though but it would be nice to have a shiny card drop through the letterbox

I said I only applied because I was offered it via my online banking. If I am going to be declined why offer the damned thing? I also listed my various benefits which are guaranteed and makes my income more stable than those in employment. I went through all my credit agreements and stated I am using 32% of my available credit according to Experian so I do not understand the main reason why the Halifax declined me - that my debt to income ratio is too high.
