I can answer my own question here, yes, what is your opinion and what is your plan, get out of jail card etc, it may sound silly but I am in the process of cultivating a "safe mode" plan with my financial life, my first plan of attack is to begin reducing the monthly debt payments down to as little as possible and then start with the household budget (again) and I know my girlfriend is not going to be too happy either when she see's what I have install for the next five year, so here is a sneak peak at what I have done so far, it may not be directly related to this thread but what the hell here it goes:

Debt Outstanding Target Date and Amount
    ===========================================

    Capital One: £220 | Sept 2008 £0.00
    Monument: £304 | Sept 2008 £0.00
    Vanquis: £0.00 | N/A N/A
    kays: £60 | Aug 2008 £0.00
    Littlewoods: £133 | Nov 2008 £0.00
    Bank of Scotland Loan: £2,356 | Aug 2009 £0.00
    Career Development: £3,150 | Jan 2012 £0.00

Current Household spend per month (including debt) = £1273.75
    Salary (after tax): = £1207.00
    Other: £200

    Total Income: = £1407.00

    Total residual: = £133.25

So, by reducing things like food, treats, luxury stuff etc I want to save around £100 per month between us and the baby, mid summer this saving should increase to around £360 + £133.25 residual income = £493.25.

I am not going to spend on the credit cards just for the sake of it so I am planning for the worst just in case.
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

I am on holidays in Thailand at the moment and have just paid for my iced coffee at a Starbucks on the beach with my Cap1 VISA card. Went through no problem, lol.

    SO jealous. :T
You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.
  • Proliant, good planning there!

If you implement such a plan now you'll not be caught out if things do take a turn for the worse. If things stay reasonably okay you've got a good saving system in place for either a big purchase or a nest-egg:D

I'm planning to get my separate accounts into place. One for bills and one for living. Anything left out of the bills account will be siphoned off into my savings account every month. Out of the living account I hope to be able to put into savings at least ten pounds a week. Not a lot, but I'm on a very limited budget and I feel that everything will count in the long run.

I also want to trim budget, so am going to take a peek at the MoneySaving Old Style board:)

And for anybody who feels they don't fit? Fiddlesticks! There's cake enough for all, even those who swan off to Thailand;)
