why do credit card seem to be so much easier to obtain than a cuurent account? doesnt make sense to me! i've just recieved my vanquis visa but have had no joy in getting a proper current account. i've just changed from halifax as they wont even consider me for a current account until 3 years has passed from my ccj date, to lloyds who have only given me a cash account. hopefully they will upgrade it in a few months of good behaviour0

Yup cards in my wallet. Applied 2 odd weeks ago, they phoned me like 3 days after and tried to sell RPI which I said no to. Why you ask

Good Afternoon All,
Grrr, got an email from Experian (Credit Expert) saying hey it's been 3 months since you last checked your score, why not check it agin. So I did. Paid £5,99 and my score has gone from 721 Fair in Sep 08 to 544 Very Poor
Well, bloody hell, that's the worst £5.99 I've spent lol. Anyway turns out reasons for low score are:- 3 or more searches in the last 3 months - I had 6 searches
- I have several credit agreements and the outstanding balance is too high - I have 9 credit agreements (4 CC, 2 Catalogues, 1 Current Account and 1 Mobile Phone). I am using 41% of available credit.
Oh well, at least I know what direction to head in!0 -

I tried that route last year when they introduced Visa Debit to basic account - manager at my local branch opened a "tracker account" with cashcard insted of basic account because she I would be "stuck" with the basic account forever otherwise. She said they don't review basic accounts and any upgrade would be a fresh application based on credit report and and not internal score (don't have internal score with basic account)

Tell me about it!
I have a Current Plus Natwest account 50 O/D with.. a card I had when I was 13 or something. Grr I hate Solo.
I've gone over O/D recently and had a bounced DD so no chance of that Maestro for a while yet. Gonna work hard to keep the account in order for 6 months then hopefully lol

hi london service card 250 u have to ask for one if reccomended it will issue one imediatley if not it will be refered if u had £8000 loan that went straight through i would say yes ur internal score is high as they only usually give above £7500 to those who account is satisfactory but will also mean ur external score is getting to the top too0

i was told in the bank account forum that natwest dont look at history and that lloyds would be my best option. looking at the last few posts it seems that in fact it is the other way around. anyone got experience of this?0

Wannabe123: Sorry I know you have answered it before but I can't find which page your advice was on anymore.
Can you give me tips on upping my chances of getting rid of the Solo card on my current plus - I have another current plus with a different branch (and different online banking for some reason) Would it be better if I get my wages paid into my spare current plus which hasn't had any DD's returned.
Please help lol

I believe if you have a Step account with Natwest they don't keep an internal score but do with the Current Plus account.
With regards to Lloyds I'm only going on what the Branch manager said, she seemed genuine lol - more to the point I never did bother to apply to Lloyds for classic in the end
