  • a friend of mine was CIFAS'd without realizing it. She was applying for instant credit in a shop and because of the CIFAS the police were called to the store and she was actually arrested!!

    I got accepted , other half got refused and a search the other day for fraud un-recorded.......

    you have got to be joking :eek:. what grounds sis they arrest her on. i won't know one way nor another but, it's unlikely i have one.

    They arrested her for attempting to obtain goods by deception. The CIFAS marker had been put there by some bank saying she was suspected of false application fraud or something. Because of the CIFAS, the next time she applied for credit the lender (this time HFC) assumed she was lying on the form and at first the store manager told her her credit application was a "referral" and that she should wait for HFC to call back with a decision. She waited for over half an hour while the store manager made excuse after excuse. Finally the police arrived in the store and started using the word CIFAS. My friend didn't even know what CIFAS was at that point.:eek:

    Really? What happend, what was the outcome of that?
