Hey guys, havent had the chance to come here lately but had to come in and let you know about mbna. used my mbna card in tesco this morning - no probs. just went to use it online and it was declined  bearing in mind out of £500 limit i have about 400 available i phoned up to find out what was going on. i was put through to their 'risk' assessment dept who told me the card has been blocked and will be closed when paid.. thisis due to finding adverse info on equifax. that info was there when i applied so why cancel now? im fuming! she also gave the impression i wouldnt get my £100 back until i insisted and she checked with cs who said when the balance is nil i can have it. im fuming!!!!

I applied for Flybe card on October 18th, and got the standard "we'll let you know in 7-10 working days". Anyway, I realised this evening that I still hadn't heard from them despite the fact that it's been a couple of weeks. I naturally assumed I'd been turned down.

So, just to confirm, I called them up, gave them the application reference number. Answered the security questions, etc... then the guy says "Your application has been approved... the card was sent out yesterday!"

"Great!" I said. "I just assumed I'd been turned down...."

"Oh no sir, we just have a large backlog at the moment, I expect thats why it's taken a while."

"Fair enough. Can I ask what the credit limit on the card is?"

    "One sec, I'll check..."

(Note: I currently have a Cap1 (£200 limit), Barclaycard Platinum (£1250) and Tesco (£2250)... so I was thinking maybe Flybe might give me, say, £1500 or so?)

"Your credit limit is £5000":eek::eek:

    OMG

I assume that you hadn't gone over your limit or missed any payments? How random. My god, I hope they don't do that to me. I did a BT and still have £2.5k on my MBNA

BTW, Welcome back :D Where have you been?????

wonder what apr/band they will put you in Calibrax??
  • the adverse is two defaulted accounts, settled due to drop off file next year.
no missed payments, no over limit , have only had it since august!

so i checked equifax and there is a default on there for an account i dont recognise... after going through paperwork i have found a letter from a dca from 2006 stating that they apologise for having incorrectly tracing me - i must have queried a demand for payment on the account i didnt recognise.. guess who the account was originally with...mbna! ive never had an mbna account. so im going to sort equifax out but still close mbna(they told me if i could sort out problems on equifax it will be reinstated but at the time i didnt realise there was a problem), am pretty disgusted. my experian file is clean but this has apparantley been on equifax for ages.

I thought this account was to give people a chance?

louiser123 - I did say that (pay the balance with my deposit and close it) and thats when she said it isnt in the terms and conditions for me to get the £100 back, naturally i got a bit annoyed at this point and explained that i hadnt broken their terms and conditions, they had and i will be expecting my money back, so after holding a while she told me i could have it back when the balance is nil.

thanks for the welcome sammy_girl. not been around because of health issues that didnt leave me the time or energy to chat  mildly better now but having one of those times where everything is going wrong!

hope you are all ok in sub prime land :D

So basically because of that default with mbna is on there they have closed it even though you don't owe them, what morons they are. I wouldn't go back with them if i was you, sod em'. Do you have any other cards will this affect them?
