DMA - interesting stuff!! Always nice to have an "insiders" point of view. Often we're second guessing what the lenders are thinking lol

Don't tell on me tho, I'll get the sack :rotfl:

Couple of things I've just seen if this helps anyone:

The Basic Bank Account I was referring to earlier, NO CREDIT SCORING IS DONE AT ALL! You can be bankrupt, have CCJ's, IVA's, the whole lot, and you can still have one. ALl they do is run an electoral roll search. So if you're on the electoral roll, you can get the Basic Bank Account with HSBC.

Secondly, as of 26th October 2008, If you want a Credit Card with HSBC, you will need to already have (or be willing to open) an account of some form with HSBC, and pay in £500 at the MINIMUM, or they will not even consider your application.

You're credit file may be top notch, never missed a payment in your life, but if you apply for a HSBC Credit Card and you don't pay £500 a month into a HSBC Bank Account - no chance.

    Hi All
Posted the other night just looking for some advice.
    I have 3 defaults from 2004/2005.
Now looking to rebuild a good credit rating after the birth of my little boy recently to help provide for his future.
I have recently got a full account with Natwest, cheque book but solo card.
Have 4 accounts with Jd Williams group, 2 limits of £125, 1 of £200 and one at £250, alsoa Vanquis card with £250 limit.
Checking my Experian report earlier an old Provident account has just appeared with loads of green zero's which is a bonus.
Tried for Great universal catalogue today, REJECTED, turned down by Next and littlewoods a month ago.
Any advice for further improvement really appreciated

yes i know provident have recently started to report the CRA's i think it was june. perhaps laying off applying for stuff for a while as i found out reading on here alot of credit searches harm you so if you have done alot in the last couple of months then you may keep getting turned down.

Hello my people, owz trix? :p
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

Yes, you are credit checked if you want to upgrade to a current account.
