Hi All
Posted the other night just looking for some advice.
I have 3 defaults from 2004/2005.
Now looking to rebuild a good credit rating after the birth of my little boy recently to help provide for his future.
I have recently got a full account with Natwest, cheque book but solo card.
Have 4 accounts with Jd Williams group, 2 limits of £125, 1 of £200 and one at £250, alsoa Vanquis card with £250 limit.
Checking my Experian report earlier an old Provident account has just appeared with loads of green zero's which is a bonus.
Tried for Great universal catalogue today, REJECTED, turned down by Next and littlewoods a month ago.
Any advice for further improvement really appreciated
Have you tried Aqua or MBNA for a cc? You dont say how many searches you have-also are you on the electoral roll?- as i understand this has a big impact
on your credit status.
On the plus side you have the bank account and credit with the catalogues so thats a really positive start.:j
If its any help-i have managed additions, studio and littlewoods but not simply be.If we all took an eye for an eye the world would be blind-(someone said that somewhere) :T
Wins Cheltenham tickets, edible garden show tickets +£25 voucher, underground disco C.D (comping since feb2011)
Thank you all competition posters!0 -
I have found the formulea to a good credit rating;.....................Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. Haven't tried Aqua as one of my defaults is a Halifax card previously.
MBNA may be worth a shot but do have lots of searches, 20ish in last 3 months.
Not on Electoral roll but will be anytime now hopefully, sent form back in September.
I have made mistakes in the past, defaults were down to a failed long term relationship/depression etc now its to the future, new relationship and new son hence my desire to really improve thingsNatwest gold..Limit £1750 bal £970..Vanquis Limit £3000 bal £0..Littlewoods..Limit £1200 bal 0..Additions direct..Limit £4900 bal £1356..Empire Limit £6200 bal £152..Jd williams..Limit £1100 bal £130..Simplybe..Limit £1500 bal 265,,Fashion world..Limit £1400 bal £145 Jacamo..Limit£125 bal 0

Thats really cool Brian, fresh starts do wonders for the soul(speaking from experience)
I think the biggest thing for you would be to get on the electoral roll as that will make a big difference to lenders along with the accounts you already have. I also have lots of searches, but at least they drop off after 6 months.
Keep an eye on posts from others on here as they have loads of good advice.
I wonder if Mr P has remembered his magic formula yet!!:rotfl:

searches stay on experian for 12 months and equifax for 24 months. but i think most lenders look at the last 6 months.
It's 12 months with Equifax too.... see HERE.
