Called Monument yesterday just for a general query and the guy put me straight through to the Fraud dept, I was told my card has had a block placed on it due to a routine security check with new customers, so I had to cycle down to work fax 6 documents off to prove my identity, even though the ID check was done on the initial application, sent off the doc's, phoned up to chase them up and they had not got them, told the fax number I was sending to was incorrect, three hours later doc's arrive at fax machine and kind lady sorted it out and took the block off my card, it looks like I was a "random" check candidate then.

Same sort of thing happened to me with my Halifax card after I moved recently. They don't tell you - just allow you to try and use it and be embarressed when it declines. Still, better that then fradulent activity I suppose.:o

LloydsTSB did the same thing to me and I would have used the card and found out when it got declined only I had been in bed unwell.

Got a letter asking me to go to the branch to discuss my account that is all it said. When I got there I found out the account had been blocked as they had not taken a "proper" photocopy of my driving license when it was opened two months earlier (I think they might have lost it as I watched the guy take the copy in front of me and it looked fine). I was pretty angry about it as by that point it was the current account all of my money got paid in to, direct debits come out of etc. and actually sat in the branch much to their annoyance with them continually telling me I did not have to wait, until they faxed off a new photocopy and told me the block had been removed.

Capital one have only sent me statements up to 2006 I have repeatedly asked over the 2 years for statements from them but have been accused of lying, that I have not been sent them and telling me they have ,in the meantime my bill went from 400 to £900. when I requested a settlement figure I was told I owed almost £900 I paid them off and have requested all of my statements to claim and they have sent up to 2006 and then the statement for me to pay £900 in 2008. I guess I was hoping someone could tell me how to get the missing 2 years of statements that I am supposed to have been sent, and which they say I have had but on requesting them they have not sent. which to me means they never did send them otherwise they would have sent them with the rest, hope this is not too confusing but please help Thanks:confused:

Suggest you send them a letter requesting all details on your account under the data protection act - based on the credit card charges letter that martin has on the site...

Well, at the end of the day I cannot criticise them for doing this because if it had of been somebody impersonating me and running up debt in my name it would have been a different story.

I'm sure I saw somewhere a card which had 100% acceptance. But was set up with a £250 limit that you had set up as a direct debit to pay each month(so in fact a loan)that was very useful to rebuild credit ratings.Anyone have any idea what I'm on about???

Are you talking about Provident? I'd stay away from them!

If it is the Provy they don’t report/cannot report to CRA's, they are regulated by the FSA. They provy don’t do DD, I think you may be on about the Cash Plus prepaid card, which by the way don’t accept you unless you hold a passport or drivers license.
