a friend of mine has a cap one classic never had credit so its not due to bad credit he has had it for just over a year he pays all but 10 off every month and he has never been increased still on £100 i asked him if it was worth it and now he has some green 0's apply for a better card but he is a bit worried that the same will happen with a £100 limit with no increases
    you cant change yesterday
but you can make tomorrow better
  • this is how i did it. they tell u after 4 statements they will increase your limit etc so i made sure that every month i paid balance off in full before due date to show them i can manage the account but everyone is different but it worked for me

Ooh, I will have to wait until Oct then. It seems like it's pot luck

I'm getting a bit cheesed off with this Lehmans Brother stuff. Found out yesterday that they actually own my mortgage through SPML. Goodness knows what will happen. I should call them to see if they know anything...that's if anyone is answering the phones??

So I have just come off the phone to Egg. Basically I had a loan that defaulted and was passed on to a DCA. In June this year I made the final payment on this debt. Now this wasn't a F&F, I paid every single penny on that balance. So, to date my credit report still hasn't been marked as settled. So I call up Egg, and the guy basically said that the balance they had sent to this DCA was wrong, and that I still owed £500 . If I didn't pay it then my account wouldn't be settled.

Anyway to cut a long story short, I was really nice and polite as I know that losing your temper doesn't get you anywhere. He spoke to a supervisor, came back and said don't worry they will mark it as fully settled and write the £500 off. I said, are you sure you're not just saying that to get me off the phone lol, and he said to be honest, you're the nicest customer I've spoken to all day, you haven't screamed and shouted at me lol. Discussion then ensued on how he is more likely to resolve a complaint if the customer is nice etc etc. So that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy and restores some faith in the staff who work at these banks. We are all human at the end of the day :)
  • well guys over the last few weeks i have been kinda silly. I have applied for a bit 2 many cards cause i got a bit big for my boots after i got accepted for the MBNA card but applied for about 3 other cards and been rejected by 2 of them already awaiting to hear about the 3rd one.

I know have 2 credit cards my cap 1 with £500 credit limit with £260 balance and my NMBA card with zero balance. am wanting to use them to improve my rating etc but i mostly pay balances off in full etc etc

My main problem is i need to pay off some debts etc but not sure how to go about it :( need to clear my feet before baby is due in april tho.

time to put the cards to one side and stop using them and start saving

Congrats on the baby Fairmorn :D

I know how addictive applying for cards can be :) But you have to be strong willed and not apply. have a motivation for not applying. Mine is that I don't want any more searches as I'm remortgaging at the start of the year!!!

Did you get a BT rate with your MBNA card. Mine came with a 1.9% interest for BT, which proved very useful for paying off my last stubborn debt. Obv, I still have to pay that debt off with MBNA but at least I'll have some nice green zeros whilst I'm doing it :)

Oh well got a big fat NO from Tesco today, failed on the credit score, not too bothered to be honest, will just concentrate on building good relationship with Vanquis and MBNA, nt going to apply for anymore credit for at least a year now. Have christened my MBNA but made a payment to them so not to worry also set up DD to take full payments on both cards so that will help with my credit file especially with MBNA as they say may upgrade card after the 6 month mark.;)

  • Hi this i think is my first post.
I think this is an amazingly informative thread and would like to thank everyone who has contributed as it has helped me a great deal.

Just one question. I applied for a Flybe credit card and got the following response:
Thank you for applying for a Flybe Card.
We will review your application and contact you in writing with a decision within 7-10 working days.

Can anyone advise as to whether this is a positive or negative result?
