    You have my upmost sympathy, I know what you went through as I lost my husband last August and after basically falling apart for 6 months had to start contacting creditors about missed payments, I hope you got a note of womans name as I would write to head office and explain your circumstances, hopefully they might be more symapthetic to your plight

    Hi there, I have read this thread and found it so interesting. I have just got a Capital one card and want to use it to rebuild my credit history, or really in my case build it. I have got my experian report, and it has my current account on it only, will the Cap one be added as soon as I make my first "full" monthly payments, also if I pay off in full will I be seen as a good or bad customer, as I want a card later on with lower interest, how long should I use this card this way before I look elsewhere? 6 months /12 months to give me chance to get create a better score.

    Hello and welcome to MSE and the "Sub Prime" thread, well done on the capital One card, they will report credit status regardless if spend on it or not, just keep at least the minimum payments on time and don’t max it out i.e. keep about £50 below the credit limit and in 6 months time check your Experian credit file and make sure that you have a string of 6 [0] on your file then apply to MBNA for one of their 0% deals.

    12 Months, but lenders tend to ignore them after 3 - 6 months depending on the lenders criterion.
